celebrating over 1000 followers on dev

Surprising !

Reaching 1000 followers on Dev.to is an incredible milestone that deserves a moment of celebration. As a writer and developer, I've been fortunate enough to witness the growth of my profile and engage with an amazing community of like-minded individuals. This blog post is dedicated to sharing my appreciation for this journey, highlighting some of the memorable aspects of my experience, and expressing my gratitude to all those who have supported me along the way.

Dashboard

  • I have ~1200 views on my 11 Blogs with ~30 reactions and still Have 1000 followers it's very surprising to me πŸ€”, any how I'd be writing more blogs as a learn and grow 😊
  • This is what I like about dev.to you don't have to be a pro and still you can grow !!! ❀️
  • I am a trusted member too, which basically means I can moderate stuff on dev.to

How I write my blogs ?

  • I don't think much before writing a blog, whenever I learn something new or discover some amazing tool, website, library I just write a blog on it !
  • Cover pages are must as they increase the chances of your blogs to me more noticeable, personally I use Figma to create my Cover pages (I'd be sharing my experience with Figma soon in an upcoming blog !)(below is an example of my first Figma Cover page ) figmacoverpageexample
  • Think as a reader 🧠, Imagine what all things you should add in you're blog that would help your reader
  • I would say consistency also play a vital role in growth of your blogging journey, I have noticed on posting consistent blogs I'd receive regular followers at least ~35 per day

"Think as a reader" is the key πŸ€“

(Way) too often, people tell on dev.to "write for yourself", which won't get long term engagement from us followers, and let us drown in a sea of superficial content when searching for solutions πŸ˜ͺ

I also had a rapid growth to 500 subscribers, and indeed consistency is important, alongside AI-generated covers πŸ€“.

Thank you for your appreciation. I wish you a flourishing career and exponential growth in your blogging journey.

Thank you my friend.

I use Automatic1111 (free, fully local) and models depends on the article. For latest ones (with images at multiple place in articles) the (public) model used is revealed at the very end (of each article).

I checked out , those cover pages look dope

btw, Could we possibly connect? I came across your profile and noticed that you are a developer and a DevOps consultant. I am currently starting my career in the tech industry, in my freshman year of my bachelor's degree, and I am exploring DevOps as a potential career path. Your experience could be valuable to me, and I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice you could provide in the field of DevOps.

I'm on DevOps Chat Slack, this is where I redirect padawans πŸ€“

This way, I'm reachable anytime, and I won't be the only one the help you grow 😊

In recent weeks I have seen a steady increase in my number of followers but I have only just tipped over the 500. However, it concerns me just how many of my followers sound like they might just be company reps, not at all interested in what I have to say. With names like Bit888 and SM66 Casino, I have a suspicion that some of them might actually be AI-driven bots but I have no idea what they aim to achieve.
Another concern I have is on the number of posts I see, all from the same author, all no more than 1min reads and issued within minutes of each other. They must be thoroughly investigated articled of tremendous insight.

"Yeah, I can relate to what you're saying. That's why I decided to calculate the daily average number of followers I gain. Based on my calculations using the followers I received over a period of 10 days, it seems like I'm getting approximately 82 followers per day. Interestingly, I've noticed that as my follower count increases, the number of views on my posts also increases. If you have enabled email notifications, you'll receive updates on new followers, which also mentions that when someone follows you on DEV Community, your posts will be prioritized in their feed and notifications. "{It seems like the perks of popularity, I suppose}" this is what email says. However, I'm not entirely sure about the actual reality of the situation. I believe that many people simply follow us without being regular blog consumers themselves, which could explain why we receive a large number of followers but comparatively fewer reactions and views on our posts."

Personally, I would rather receive feedback on my posts than followers, which is a metric I have never been interested in.

Indeed, improving every day is my motto too, and I am glad that I do receive feedbacks from community πŸ˜€

What is happening to Dev.to?

My followers have increased by more than 220 over the last three days - unbelievable.

I mean I really do not believe the figures are genuine given the daily count for the rest of the month came under 10 followers per day. At this rate I might hit the 1000 followers myself by the end of the weekend.

Image description

I have been a member of Dev.to for nearly six years but only been writing posts over the last four. I only wish a tenth of the followers actually indicated they read any of my posts and provided feedback.

Many of my new found followers appear to be companies from south-east Asia engaged in gambling, a pastime I personally detest. I have started blocking those followers I am confident are not really interested in my posts but I cannot help but think this behaviour is just going to spoil the platform for every genuine follower.

yeah growth as a blogger in dev.to is tremendous, If you are consistent enough you'll have more people reading your blog hence more chances of getting feedback, when i had 1000 followers i just had 30-40 approx views but as if for now on 2k followers views are increasing upto 150-160 on new blogs

Many people and friends of mine don't know about moderators on dev, as my colleagues and I are just beginning in tech so thought I might add that πŸ˜€
