⚡ Developer Productivity Isn’t What You Think

Most of us grew up measuring productivity by time spent coding. But in reality, deep focus is what drives real output—not hours, not lines of code.

Here’s what we’ve been learning:

1. Dev Sessions Beat Time Logs
Tracking focused sessions (not just hours) gives better signals on when you're actually shipping, not just “coding.”

2. Interruptions Are Expensive
Each Slack ping or context switch can cost 20+ minutes of lost focus. Seeing where you get derailed helps you fix it.

3. AI Helps When It Disappears
AI tools are most useful when they reduce friction—not when they add more steps. The goal: stay in flow, not babysit the bot.

4. “Vibe Coding” Is Real
Describe your intent in natural language, get AI to scaffold it. You stay creative, AI handles the boilerplate. This is where it’s going.

We’re building Devek.ai around these ideas—open-source tools to help devs understand and optimize their own workflows.

Curious:
How do you know when you’ve had a “productive” day?
What helps you stay in flow?

Let’s share notes.

Great insights on shifting focus from hours to deep work! I’ve found that a productive day means achieving key tasks or solving complex problems, rather than simply logging time.
