Sooo I'm actually a slower and less accurate typer with my ergonomic keyboard -- I think because of how much further I need to press -- BUT, it has done wonders for my wrist pain so I just let it be. I have less shame about typos as I get older.
It depends on what do you consider "ergonomic".
If it's any random weird shaped thing labelled "ergonomic" then NO.
If it's a low-profile keyboard that allows you to type without moving your arms too much then yes.
A good chair with proper armrests aligned with your table is key as well; elbows hanging is a big F.
Wether the armrests should be "4D" or not will depend mainly on your arm length and how wide is your back. Make sure you can type anything without the need of weird arm position!
Cheers!
Ergonomic Keyboards may help faster coding in the short term. Particularly the keyboards with thumb keys, macros, & chords. Efficient key layout & the mouse position help.
Ergonomic keyboards help in the long term by reducing RSI & Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. These injuries hurt one's health & productivity. So ergonomics are important to a long career.
I'm WAY more accurate with symbols using layers, spreading it and putting może in the middle of just a bonus.
I think ergonomic is subjective...
