The adjustment is only visible on desktop. If you're reading this post on your phone it will be less clear what I’m referring to.
If you're on desktop, you'll notice that we have added a sticky navigation bar to the post page. Articles and discussions will now be accompanied by more info about the author of the post, as well as navigation to other posts that are trending on dev.to. It leans towards selecting"trending" articles which share tags with the post you are reading, but if the tag isn't as popular it will go more general.
This style is fairly common on the web, but it’s still a departure from our previous design. No design change is without its critics, but we think this direction is a good one that will improve the reading and discovery experience.
If you have thoughts about how we could tweak this, we'd gladly hear your ideas. We plan to continue experimenting with the trending articles and the design here as we try to improve the experience.
Happy coding ❤️

Would you have a plan to let users change sticky panel to left by chance?
Right. I'm more of "left" person too :)
This could happen but probably not something we can prioritize at the moment. We will continue to refine the idea and maybe it will end up on the left for everyone.
Great addition...
Usually when I like an article I go to the author's page to check more stuff from him/her...
So the first thing I looked for in the sidebar was something like "More from Ben..."
maybe an idea?
Yes, we're going to experiment with that for folks with enough articles.
Hi Ben,
I just signed up and looks like I may hang out here - liking it so far. A little contribution (would hate to sound critical), once one signs up there is a welcome screen that goes like - "It's a place to talk shop and keep up with other devs." I may be wrong but there seems to be a need for a comma after "place to talk" otherwise someone may get puzzled of what talking shop is.
P.S. Procrastinating...
Noticed a few bugs in this first push (im)patiently waiting for my CI to complete to fix the issues 🙃
Okay fixed. I'm sure there are going to be some kinks to iron out in terms of relevant suggestions and cleaning up the overall design, but I'm going home now.
Thanks for being a great community everybody.
Might be nice to have a "Reading Mode" where I can temporarily hide the bar. In general, I like it, but it might be nice to add an "X" - button or similar to collapse the side panel.
