Hello,
I have a PhD on Astrophysics, finished in 2012. There were tools to analyse images or perform rudimentary data analysis back then, but some programming skills were already required.
In 2005, concepts like data science, machine learning and Python/R weren't the hot topics they are today.
So, for the analysis I wanted to perform (estimating distances to galaxies from their "colour" alone), I had to write, from scratch, a machine learning code in C++!
Following instructions from a robotics scientific article, I wrote a 'weighted kd-tree' code. Today, I'm a Python coder and data scientist. But I credit my current 'intuition' on these matters ever since that time! π
Welcome welcome!
Great to have you!
Hello! Great to have you here! π
Hello and welcome to DEV!
Hello, welcome to the community
hola π
Hello, Welcome to the community !
whoa, i crave for this kind of versatile knowledge you have on science to be able to estimate distance between galaxies from their color,, that is really amazing
Hello World

Hi - I'm Richard Genet, I am getting going in AI with some friends. I just found you guys and I'm not even sure of what/who I have found - haha. I want to "play with" PDF to RAG for starters. I have many AI ideas. My background is in telecom automation and tools: as a developer, architect, and leader. Most recently using Python, cloud (GCP and BigQuery). I am leveraging this foundation to get into entrepreneurial ai. I also care about things like climate etc. I am looking forward to learning more about you all :-).

Hello everybody! Welcome on DEV! π₯³π
Hey folks, read a fair few articles but finally posted my first post here, its a repost of a blog I did on my own site some years ago but is still relevant today I hope! Iβve been a full stack software developer/engineer for 11 years and looking forward to posting more here.
I work predominately in microsoft stack (.NET, Azure, JS etc) in web applications for my current company SThree.
Fun fact - in my spare time I build Muppet replicas! Have posted my latest below.
Awesome Gonzo. Welcome to DEV!

Hello :)
I am a struggling developer
I have some experience with front end coding with react. I am doing a practice project in remix + prisma. You're welcome if you wanna tag along <3
I want to start blogging and sharing what little I know
I will try my best
As a full stack developer, I play a crucial role in both the frontend and backend aspects of web development. On the front end, I'm responsible for crafting the user interface and experience using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with frameworks like React. I ensure that the application is visually appealing, responsive, and intuitive for users to navigate. On the backend, I work with server-side technologies like Node.js to build the logic and functionality of the application, manage databases, and handle server-side operations. My expertise in both frontend and backend development allows me to create fully functional and dynamic web applications that meet the needs of users and businesses alike. Additionally, my skills often extend to areas such as version control, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting, making me a versatile and valuable asset to any development team.
Hello everyone, I'm Ata. I'm a computer science graduate recently and now I'm pursuing a master's degree on cyber security. I'm interested in cyber security for 2 years and currently working at a defense company.
I'm interested in development since the beginning of my CS journey. I mostly use Python, Go and JavaScript but I also have experience in C/C++, Java and few others.
I have some knowledge about fundamentals of cyber security, red teaming and penetration testing. However, I mostly work about application security, DevSecOps and IaC.
Fun facts about me: I'm a dedicated gamer for 10+ years, I play saxophone for 8 years and I love collecting die-cast cars.
If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to answer!
Can you give me some suggestions as elder brother
For my learning journey .
Hello there! I'm not sure if I'm experienced enough to give advice, so thanks for asking for one. I suggest that you shouldn't be a perfectionist in your learning journey. In a project or during a development session, perfectionism has more pros than cons and usually it gives good outcomes. However, when you try to learn from a "perfect" resource, method, way, etc. you get slow and avoid learning. So I suggest that you should be consistent in your journey. Whether it's a tailored course or a simple document, a topic you need to learn or you want to learn, just try to fill your timeline with them. I hope it's a useful one for you.
Hi I am yongjae a process automation engineer. Thesedays I have been studying AI and python coding. I had been a c++ developer for over 13 years. Hello Everyone,
I've had an account for a while, but haven't used this in a while so I'm re-introducing myself!
My name is Cent, and I am a Production Support Engineer based out of Jacksonville Florida. I like my job but I would like to transition to web development, as I don't get to do a lot of coding at my job.
I am knowledgeable in the MERN Stack, SQL, and basic linux. Hoping to learn a lot more by participating on the site again!
