Things are ramping up after the holiday season. Everyone's back and brushing the crumbs off and remembering what the hell they did in early December.
My wins:
Not a very productive week honestly. I was so busy with work that I didn't have time to finish up any of the projects I was working on.
Hey now, finding discount vinyls sounds pretty damn productive to me. 😀
What'd ya get?
I got
And a few more that I can't think of lol got a TON of Jazz and Jazz Fusion.
Word up! I'm gonna have to dig into some of these... seeing some fresh names there.
And haha, I thought this convo sounded a wee bit familiar. 😀
I also dig Jazz and Jazz Fusion, but I'm really not that well versed in it. I like it (that Spyro Gyra album you sent me the other day
rockedjazzed) and I should totally listen to more of this sorta stuff. I particularly like the intersection of Jazz and Funk! Here lately I've been lucky enough to find a pretty big selection at my local record stores. Normally people in my area aren't really looking at the Jazz records so it's kind of like a treasure hunt every time I go. And they're normally really cheap which is also a plus. Definitively my genre of choice right now musically.
Win #1: I got the 4 week writing badge
Win #2: I got 36 followers on Hashnode I just need a few more to achieve my goal of having 50.
What's your win @michaeltharrington?
Awww, thanks so much for asking Christine and congrats on your wins! 4 weeks in a row of writing articles & getting a bunch of followers on Hashnode are definitely things worth celebrating. 🙌
Last week's win for me was that I met up with a neighbor-to-be of mine and we did a bunch of work out on my property, mostly splitting logs! We're getting the land ready to build my new house.
And my neighbor is a saint, haha! He's been sooooooo helpful to me. He's not only helped me to do lotsa yard work but also taught me how to use a chainsaw (it still freaks me out), a log splitter, and soon will be teaching me how to use his tractor. I couldn't have asked for a nicer neighbor.
Not only that, but he also plays music with me! We've been having a lotta fun jamming... I play guitar + sing and he is a bassist + percussionist. He actually is involved in a few local music festivals in my area and is the primary person behind one called Elderberry Festival.
I felt like my week went really well 😊 I helped present for the first time to the wider teams what work the development team have been working on and what is coming soon, I had a chance to really hype up the hard work everyones been doing fixing bugs in the last sprint and some new features we’re working on 🥰 I also started PHP training this week as I’m mostly front end but want to broaden my skill set 😊 I hope everyone else has had a good week also!
Awesome Lou! So cool that you used the chance to present to recognize and celebrate all the hard work your teammates are putting in. That can have such a positive effect on team morale... I bet folks found it both really helpful to learn about all these happenings and really encouraging to hear ya recognize their wins.

My wins:
I'm the new host for a monthly IoT call at work, which is super cool. People have said they like my presenting style when I was a guest on the call, so I'm looking forward to being the full host. 💪
I contributed a couple PRs for the Visual Studio Django tutorial docs to fix a few outdated sections while I was tripping over the tutorial. 😄
I got
The Crusaders - Rhapsody & Blues
Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive
The Yellowjackets - Samurai Samba
Huey Lewis & the News - Fore!
Chuck Mangione - Feels So Good
Gamma - Gamma 1
Spyro Gyra - Free time
And a few more that I can't think of lol got a TON of Jazz and Jazz Fusion.****
I got response back and submitted my techincal test from "Rockstar games" (aka GTA creators) on Frontend developer position.
P.S. I failed the test
OOoo I know the feels... I applied to Rockstar way back when, but not on the development side. I was fresh out of university, had just moved abroad to Edinburgh Scotland, and I think I just wanted to get in as a game tester. I never heard back, so at least you got a response. Wishing you the best if you apply there again!
Thank you Michael! 😊
Hit 500 subscribers on my newish YouTube channel.
Also finished 50% of my new book. Got booked as a guest on several different podcasts.
Congratulations @codenameone! I have a goal to reach 50 followers on my blog, so seeing your post is motivating
Added one follower just now. Good luck!
Thanks @codenameone!
Made it through week 1 with a new cohort of students. That's really intense to stand for 4 hours every day passionately teaching about loops and arrays, but the students are really special people.
My win that I accepted my failure of this week. Maybe sounds unclear, but I guess it is pretty important for everyone can to admit your mistakes, draw conclusions and continue.
Rock on, Ivan. That is such a fantastic way to look at things.
Honestly, some of my favorite posts to read on DEV are when folks talk openly about their failures and what they learned from them. These sorta humble posts are so relatable and often help other folks avoid the same problem.
