My GitHub README is about to get a new resident 🎉

Does anyone else treat badges like Pokémon cards, or is it just me? 😅

Badges may be small, but they never fail to make my day 😄

Ahahah, good to know I'm not the only one collecting badges and grinning like a child whenever I get one 😂

Hahaha, exactly! 😂
There's something ridiculously satisfying about seeing a new badge appear, no matter how many I've already collected. For a few seconds, we all become excited kids again 😄
Glad to know there are more of us out there! 😅

One of my wins this week was publishing Edition #3 of a weekly series I've been building called Dev Opportunity Radar.

A few weeks ago, it was just an idea I wasn't even sure anyone would read. This week, I had people discovering opportunities through it, applying to them, and community members sharing opportunities and resources that ended up being featured in the edition.

Seeing it slowly grow from an idea into something people are actually finding useful has been really rewarding.

I also published an article about how communities have shaped my own journey, which felt meaningful given how much of this week's edition was driven by community contributions.

Also, I was invited to join The DEVengers this week, which was a pretty nice surprise 😄

Definitely one of my favorite weeks on DEV so far 🎉

Hemaaa!! 💛 You've made such great progress! I'm very proud of you! 🥹 Happy that you found the courage to shift from a silent reader to an author whose posts are so popular and bring so much value to the community. Keep going! 💛

Klaudia, that means a lot coming from you 💛

Honestly, seeing how welcoming and supportive you were, along with so many other people in this community, gave me a lot of confidence when I was still mostly a silent reader.

I'm really glad our DEV journeys crossed paths. Thank you for all the encouragement along the way 💛

  • Wrote 2 posts here this week!
  • Been keeping up with daily stretching. Just 15min every evening. Have already noticed much better mobility in just a few weeks which is super motivating!

Is this the Rails upgrade doing? I notice my post is not listed in the latest when I added the #discuss tag, so I figure there is a bug? @ben

  • Did some experiments with AI and Software Engineering (SWE) that might be useful in the coming days (won't replace devs, rather empower them even more). Hint: it's about how to use some very low cost and/or open models to automate parts of SWE better than high cost models if you're good at SWE yourself. I think we all should experiment with AI that empowers devs, as opposed to acting like big tech. that are trying to replace devs. I'm calling this SWEA (SWE Automation), which is an antidote to Vibe Coding - here your SWE knowledge and experience will be empowered and enhanced by AI.

  • Posted a DEV article in my Short Series on AI Slop (another one in the draft).

  • Had an spiritual epiphany that'll likely have significant impact in my life going forward.

Out of curiosity I just Google'd my own name and clicked on the link about top GitHub committers in the Philippines. I'm happy that my work is slowly showing up. In fact, I was so happy that I made a short clip (don't mind Mark Zuckerberg, I was testing for web cam placeholders).

First of all, let me say that I just love this thread! It's like the community's gratitude journal 🌻 Always happy to read what good has happened to people around dev.to!

As for me, I took part in the Solstice Challenge and developed my second app! I wrote about it here:

I also started the Responsive Web Design course by freeCodeCamp, and I love it so far 💛

I'm also happy for my holidays next week! Everything is already booked and handled. Can't wait already!!! ✈️

And honestly, having everything booked and ready for a holiday is such a great feeling 😄. Hope you have an amazing trip!

I've tried a few alternatives to GitHub Copilot CLI: Claude Code, OpenCode, Kilo CLI… the results are interesting, and I'll present them briefly here. But clearly, the tool isn't a panacea; Haiku 4.5, for example, doesn't give the same results at all depending on the tool that calls it 🤔

My win this week: a Docker Compose PR from a Scarab Systems field test got merged.

The bug was a clean boundary problem: Compose was validating typed fields before unresolved ${...} interpolation variables had been discovered, so the validation phase was firing too early. The merged patch keeps the repair narrow and restores the right order of responsibility.

Small patch, big proof point. This one felt good.

Released couple updates for my programming language called Arc! Some of them featured new features (for example v0.2.0-alpha featured addition of basic classes) while others were purely performance and bug fix based (v0.1.1-alpha improved performance by a lot, went from 900ms at fib(30) to ~140ms! Speed is now greater or equal to CPython's!)

I would like someone to leave feedback about the project :]

This week was very nice! Over the weekend (not this weekend), I started my Python project, devto-followers2md, an open-source Python program that exports information about a user's followers on DEV.to to a Markdown, CSV, or JSON file. On Wednesday, I wrote an article here on DEV.to about my development workflow. Today, I wrote an article here on DEV.to about my Python project!

🤖 AI agents use the MCP server.
Same execution layer. Different interface.
Watching autonomous systems discover infrastructure instead of reading documentation has been a pretty satisfying milestone.

Resurrected a 15+-year old website for a band I was in that's getting interest after 6 years of ending: pushing GIT repo directly from code editor via SSH to Debian server (that's a great setup, highly recommended), had changed the port, needed to make GIT post-receive executable, re-enable SSI (yep, that server-side PHP precursor is still very handy, although I might not use it these days!) so site up again in all its retro glory! People can now order CDs again (yes, they asked for them)! Loscoe State Opera
