I am trying to make a better practice of being fully present in asking folks how they are doing and a bit of a catch up on what is happening in their lives. Always helps to know context and to start every meeting on a great foot.

That's a good way to get to know folks you may wind up seeing often in meetings, especially if you share a project.

What's your opinion?/ What do you think?/ What's your perspective/ How do you feel about that?
It really depends on the meeting, the people you are with, but I consider that asking the other party to share their perspective could open possibilities.

Why are we doing this meeting :/ Kidding!!!

I want to stretch on productivity - how I make the most out of any meetings.

  1. I focus on the main topics being discussed in the meeting and take notes to keep track of important details.

  2. If I don't understand what the speaker is saying, I ask them to repeat themselves. It's important to clarify things so that everyone is on the same page.

  3. I use a tool to generate a meeting summary. Even if I miss something or skip over a detail, this tool helps me create notes using Meeting Transcribe. You can even build this tool for yourself here: apyhub.com/blog/building-ai-powere....

That's all from me! I'm looking forward to hearing some great suggestions from everyone in this thread.

Let's have another meeting to discuss the meeting that we just had about the meeting.

Wait you didn't say "What Isn't a Question to Ask in a Meeting?"

A good question is everyone aware of what we/you are now tasked with?

A good question is:

What does the app need to generate real value for you and your customers?!

And also (this is a bit funny and I only do it in my head 🀣):

Is this call really important or can we resolve it with just an email?!

This meeting is not relevant to me, can I leave?

This was highly encouraged by the CEO of a company I previously worked at, and so it should be. There's nothing worse than sitting there, bored, in a meeting that is benefitting neither you or the company.

Why? or the 5 whys as Simon Sinek taught us.
It helps challenge traditional thinking by forcing us to be introspective.

What is the worst thing that would happen if we canceled the meeting ?

In order to see if why we actually need it and focus people on that :)

Could we agree we spent 1h all together and this meeting could have been an email or a slack channel ? if so, then let's cancel this weekly meeting, and go back to work.
