WhatsApp is rolling out usernames, giving users a new way to connect without sharing their phone numbers.
Once the feature is available in your region, you can create a unique username through your account settings while keeping your phone number linked to your WhatsApp account.
Instead of giving out your mobile number, you can simply share your username to start a conversation.
You can also change or remove your username whenever you want, giving you more control over your privacy.
To make the feature more secure, WhatsApp is introducing a username reservation system along with an optional username key for added protection.
At launch, usernames won't be searchable inside the app, so you'll need to share them directly with others.
This update gives users a safer and more private way to connect while keeping their phone numbers hidden.
