I built Repoweek to turn READMEs into animated launch pages and video trailers

Repoweek preview

A README explains your project. But when you want to share it, you often need a landing page, a short video, and an image for social media.
I built Repoweek to help generate those assets from information already in your repository.
It’s an open-source skill for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

What it creates

  • An animated landing page in a self-contained HTML file.
  • A video trailer exported as MP4 and GIF.
  • A social card for link previews and sharing. Watch the live demo

Getting started

Install the skill:
npx skills add Gleaming0427/repoweek
Then ask your coding agent:
Use repoweek to make a launch page and a trailer for this repo.
The agent reads your README and relevant project files, then prepares a JSON specification describing the content. Repoweek’s scripts render the page and export the media.
The output is yours to edit and host.

How it works

Repoweek separates writing the content from rendering it.
Your coding agent prepares the story: what the project does, its features, installation instructions, and demo content. The renderer turns that specification into HTML and animations.
For video export, a local browser captures the trailer frame by frame, and ffmpeg encodes the result.
The renderer has zero npm dependencies. Rendering requires Node.js 18 or newer; video export requires Node.js 22 or newer, Chrome or a compatible browser, and ffmpeg.

Customization and current limits

There are six theme presets and three trailer formats:
landscape, portrait, and square. You can also edit the generated JSON to change the copy, colors, and scene order.
The current trailers use animated text and code. They don’t include voice-over, background music, or screen recordings.
You should review the generated content before publishing, especially installation commands and claims about your project.

I’d love feedback

Would you use this to present your own side project? What would you change before sharing the output?
If you try it, I’d love to see what you create. And if you find it useful, a GitHub star is appreciated ⭐
