Google allows third-party apps to connect to its artificial intelligence

Google introduced a new platform enabling developers to integrate third-party apps with Search and Gemini.

Developers can use the Google Connected Console to register, test, and submit integrations, while tracking traffic, latency, and error rates for live apps.

This feature allows users to connect third-party services and perform specific actions through Google’s AI tools. For example, someone can connect to Canva to design a brochure or YouTube Music to create a playlist. Google already has more than 50 such connected apps in its AI from partners like Adobe, Experian, Localiza, and Peloton.

These apps will appear in Google Classic Search in the coming weeks, adding new options to existing integrations like Instacart, Canva, and Yahoo Fantasy Football. It was also announced that meditation app Calm will soon be available in both AI and search.

How the new platform works

The new platform allows any business or developer to submit applications and track their performance. Currently, the platform is in a beta phase and is only available to developers in the United States who have signed up for a waitlist.

Developers can integrate their services using specific methods and then use Google’s dedicated management environment to register, test, and submit their app. Once the app is publicly available, developers can track traffic, response speed, and error rates while maintaining control of their brand identity.

Google has not announced when the new platform will be available on a wider scale.
