EVERYONE, please join us for #SheCoded 2018!

International Women's Day is next week and we want to celebrate the heck out of it.

One of my favorite moments with The DEV Community was our 2017 International Women's Day celebration. "Nevertheless, She Coded" brought women and non-binary folks who wished to participate together to share their coding journey. This year, we'd like to continue building on #shecoded and tell more amazing stories.

Since Press For Progress is the official 2018 theme for IWD, we're excited to celebrate women and non-binary people's bragging rights in software development and gather advice for allies to take action. For those of you who participated last year, we encourage you to submit another post. And if you're new to the celebration, we welcome you to contribute to the collective.

On Thursday March 8th, we'll be boosting your stories all over dev.to and across our social channels.

Here's how you can get started RIGHT NOW:

For Allies:

  • Forward this to all the women and non-binary devs in your life. Encourage them to share their story. The more women who share, the more powerful this will be.
  • Read the stories!
  • Leave some love (comments and hearts and unicorns and retweets!) ❤️🦄

For Women and Non-binary folks:

  • Visit dev.to/new/shecoded
  • You'll see a template with some suggestions. This is only meant to get your ideas going, so please feel free to write your own narrative!
  • Your post can be of any length or format. I've also left some additional ideas below for inspiration.
  • PUBLISH THE POST 😊

I <3 this!

I remember I joined shortly before the last #SheCoded and my sleeping scheduled got messed up because I wouldn't stop reading everyone's stories. Can't wait to see more of it this year :)

I'm now reading last year's stuff. I've also tweeted about this to some of my female and non-binary dev friends, as there are a group of us together this week for the Microsoft MVP Summit. And we'll spread the word to get more visibility as well - and hopefully they'll share their stories too. Thanks for sending this to me!

Hi! We've made #TheyCoded a supported tag in this campaign. A number of non-binary folks had expressed interest in #SheCoded but we should have done a better job making it clear that this was a valid tag in the celebration. Here's the template: dev.to/new/theycoded
