I got my first paycheck after career change!

It is neither a dev job nor a huge amount, but still, it feels really amazing. ✨🥳
paycheck

➕ My apology for the lengthy comment, but I have to brag this as well.
Thank you, everyone, on Dev.to❣️ This is way much bigger celebration then I expected.

I had a great phone interview on Tuesday! So great that they asked me to come back for an in person interview/coding challenge! I’ll be spending next week getting mentally prepped for that because my in person interview is on Monday the 5th. Woo! This job would be a huge step forward in my web development career.

  • Learned Bootstrap 4.
  • Recreated my portfolio using bootstrap 4.
  • Learned about the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) knowing that i will be working on a project that contains: a mobile app + a website, and i hadn't have the slightest idea of how it should work together before.

I finally got around to learning basic SASS (I've been meaning to do so for a while now), and then immediately applied that knowledge to improve load times for the web app I've been working on by using SASS imports to cut down on the total number of style sheets that need to be fetched. In all, it made the app load almost 3.5 seconds faster on a simulated 3G network.

This week my team and really my whole company had a HUGE product release and launch that went super smoothly and I'm really happy about it! I lead one of the teams that was responsible for a lot of the work and I couldn't be prouder of my team and what we were able to build!

I work at Betterment and we launched a NEW Savings product that took a ton of work from a lot of different teams internally! We ALSO announced a new Checking product that is coming out in the near future!
You can signup for the checking waitlist and find out more about Savings, and our new Everyday offerings below!
(NOTE: This following IS a personal referral link that will boost me higher in the checking waitlist)

My article on the 10 NASA rules pissed a lot of people, it's pretty awesome to confront an idea to so many people and to see you've got the finger onto something (or maybe that I'm plain stupid, another option to be considered)

I spent the whole week at work creating e2e tests with cypress.
Not the most funny thing to do, but it's a big deal because it would allow us to test really important user flows before each deployment!
Learned so much! :)

After nearly one month of effort to migrating from java 8 to java 11, I was able to pass all 2000 test cases in our product. That was really stressful to work with more than hundred of Github repositories and make it all support to java 11. Most of the test failure were due to class finding issues in OSGi. However, we were able to manage it and stable the product.

My win was that I met all my goals in one week, rarely does that happen due to too many things getting in the way.

  1. Blog posts
  2. New Podcast episodes
  3. Clearing out that inbox
  4. keeping up with dev.to
  5. Shortening my reading list

My week did not start very well, with some sommer virus (no details here ;-)).
So first day(s) I was not with any additional forces to do any side-project related work.
But... as so much in life, bad happenings can have right sides, we need to take them :-)
My one was, I had some time to think in my next steps.
On one side, I decided to put a brake on the development of my job boards and underlying boardengine.io and focus there only on marketing and sales until I have some $ output out of it. On the other side, I decided to start my kunvenu.com project, which is service to make meetings productive, having people, input and output, and dates/locations in one place.
Now, as Anti-Virus is finally working, I started with first definitions of scope to test idea better and soon jump into "shipping."
