If you're in a position to hire, what are you looking for in a web developer's portfolio?

Was curious, if you're in a position to hire, what sort of things do you look for in a web developer's portfolio? Be it their personal website or GitHub profile. Are there specific tools or languages you look at? Or a specific type of project or just growth in general?

Ooooh, great question. I'll give it some more thought, but my initial reaction is: Quality over quantity. If you have one or two web apps you've been polishing and honing, and caring over with all your attention, I guarantee I'm going to get a good impression. If you have 15 so-so projects, it might be harder to get your impression across.
