Running Multiple AI Agents at Once Without Losing Your Mouse

AI agents can now operate computers by themselves. Give one a task and it can open apps, click through interfaces and type its way to a result. But anyone who has tried this knows the catch: while the agent is working, it often takes over your only mouse and keyboard. You sit and wait, and running a second agent alongside it is out of the question.

Novastart, an infinite canvas operating system that launched on October 12, 2026, takes a different approach. Every agent gets its own input, so you can run several at once and keep working yourself.

One pointer is a bottleneck

A conventional operating system assumes one person, one mouse and one keyboard. When an AI agent drives that computer, it has to borrow that single set of controls. That's inefficient in two ways. You lose the use of your own computer while the agent works, and agents have to take turns, because there is only one pointer to go around.

There's a second issue. Agents typically work out of sight, which poses security risks. If you can't see what an agent is doing, you can't catch a mistake while it's happening.

Each agent gets its own mouse and keyboard

Novastart gives each agent its own mouse and keyboard inside the operating system, so multiple AI agents can work at the same time. Your own mouse and keyboard stay yours. You can keep writing an email or reviewing a spreadsheet while agents work in other windows.

Because the agents work on the same canvas as you, their activity is visible. AI agents click and type with cursors of their own, and users can watch every agent's clicks.

A lead agent and up to 10 helpers

Bigger jobs can be split. In Novastart, a lead agent splits a job among up to 10 helpers, each with a labeled cursor in its own window. The labels make it clear which agent is doing what, and the separate windows keep their work from colliding. Users can watch them interact with apps on the canvas and run multiple agents at once without losing their own mouse and keyboard.

The infinite canvas gives agents room

Running many agents needs space, and a fixed desktop runs out of it fast. Novastart replaces the traditional desktop with one infinite canvas. Every app sits on the canvas; users scroll and pan to move between apps and zoom out to see everything at once. With several agents working in several windows, zooming out gives you a view of all of them at the same time.

Agents can work in the apps you already use. Novastart opens more than 30 web apps, including Chrome, Claude, ChatGPT, Gmail, Excel, WhatsApp and Notion, as standalone windows.

Stay in control

Running several agents only makes sense if you can step in. In Novastart, users can pause or correct a run midway and take a window back with one click. If one helper heads the wrong way, you deal with that one without stopping the rest or giving up your own controls.

"As AI gets more powerful, it becomes more important to see what agents are working on for us," said Thomas Fraher, co-founder and CTO of Novastart. "We built that into the operating system. Every agent has its own cursor on the same canvas as you, and nothing happens where you can't watch it."

Agents and teammates together

The same canvas can be shared with people. Teammates join a shared canvas by email invitation and click and type in one another's windows at the same time. Windows stream directly from machine to machine, so the whole team works together on the same canvases, alongside the agents.

A quick summary

  • Separate input: each agent has its own mouse and keyboard inside the OS.
  • Parallel work: multiple agents run at the same time, and you keep your own controls.
  • Clear labels: a lead agent and up to 10 helpers, each with a labeled cursor in its own window.
  • Full visibility: watch every click on the canvas.
  • Control: pause, correct or take a window back with one click.

How to try it

Novastart is available now in three plans: Free, Pro and Team. The Novastart app runs the full operating system in a window on Windows 10 or 11 and on Intel-based Macs. Novastart OS installs as the operating system on Intel and other x86 PCs from a USB drive in about 8 to 15 minutes. Learn more at novastart.com.
