I'm Saathwik, and I build Mark, an AI chat at Saanora. One decision shaped almost everything: you can open saanora.com and start chatting without making an account. No email, no password, no "verify your inbox".
Here's what that taught me so far.
1. A signup wall is a question you ask before you've earned it.
When someone lands on a new AI tool, they have one question: is this any good? Asking for an email before they can find out is asking them to trust you first. Taking the wall away means the product has to answer that question on its own, in the first message.
2. No signup makes the first answer matter a lot more.
Nobody is invested yet. If the first reply is slow or vague, they close the tab and you never hear why. That pushed me to focus on research with citations, so people can click a source and check the answer themselves instead of taking my word for it.
3. Free usage needs limits that make sense.
Free and no signup means you have to think about cost and abuse from day one. Paid plans exist for people who use research a lot: Lite is $9.99/mo with 40 research searches a week, and Spark is $20/mo with 120 a week. The free chat stays free.
4. Chat doesn't have to be one on one.
A lot of questions come up in a group, so we built Rooms, which are group chats with Mark. You and a few friends in one chat with the AI.
5. You lose your easiest growth metric.
Without signups you can't just count emails. You have to look at whether people come back and actually ask a second question. That's a more honest number, and sometimes a more humbling one.
Where it's at
It's early. Plenty is rough, and I'd honestly like to hear what breaks for you. If you want to try it, there's nothing to sign up for. And if you do end up wanting more research searches, PROMO50 gets you 50% off your first month of Lite or Spark.
