Hey all. Welcome to DEV and thank you for choosing this platform!!
As mention on my last week thread message and the week before that, I am waiting on introducing myself to the welcome thread (properly) @javz 3 more weeks till Welcome Thread v400!
In other case, what brings you on DEV? Any good projects you are working on?
Hello and welcome to dev.to Community ! 👋🏼😉
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the dev.to-community!
I'm Martin, and I worked as a Senior Front-End Architect and Engineering Manager at some of the world's largest digital agencies, where I led front-end teams on international projects. After 15 years, I left.
Now I travel the world as a professional scuba diver and work as a contracted Tech Lead, Solution Architect, and technical Recruiter for international clients. Additionally, I write about technology on dev.to and Golem (German).
That is my advice for everyone. Jump right in. Start writing! Today! That's how I became a published author for No Stach Press and Packt Publishing - who knows what's waiting for you?
My latest book Claude Code Beyond the Prompt will be available in November. Over the next few weeks, I'll run a series on dev. to revealing the chapters one-by-one. Take a look :)
If I have enough time, I write more in-depth articles and thought pieces here on dev.to, for example: Toward Agent Native Development.
My first book, The Complete Developer, is an easy, hands-on introduction to building web applications with Next.js, MongoDB, and Mongoose. It is part of multiple university syllabi in the USA and India - you can get it from No Starch Press
I recommend following the general tags webdev, ai , career and productivity and javascript, react, CSS. Head over to your Dashboard and adjust the tag weight to personalize your home feed.
Here's a list of articles to start your journey as a successful developer and a great writer:
If you are looking for your next job, I highly recommend buying the Book De-Coding the Technical Interview Process by Emma Bostian. It is hands down the best preparation for every technical interview.
If you're interested in my articles, have questions, or want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me on dev.to/martinkr
And remember to start posting today!
Cheers!
Hey Martin! 👋
Transitioning from 15 years in agency leadership to balancing freelance tech lead work with professional scuba diving is such a cool journey. Talk about mastering work-life balance!
I really appreciate how consistently you encourage newcomers to start writing and sharing their journey early. With your experience mentoring and authoring The Complete Developer, what’s the single biggest barrier you see developers face when shifting from just consuming content to actually publishing their first post or open-source contribution?
Great having your perspective in the thread! 🚀
Thank you for asking. The biggest single barrier "is not doing it". You will only improve a skill by using it. Write a ticket, raise a PR, publish a Library - don't hesitate; do it. Do it yourself, not ask an LLM, and you will learn something every time.
Couldn't agree more, Martin. The friction of wrestling with an issue and figuring it out yourself is where the actual muscle memory gets built. Shortcuts just don't teach you how to think through the messy edge cases.
Really appreciate the grounded perspective and the push to just build!
Hey everyone, and a huge welcome to all the new faces joining DEV! 👋
I've been hanging around DEV and open-source spaces for a while now, and it's easily one of the most supportive developer communities out there.
With everything moving so fast right now - from agentic workflows and local AI tooling to modern full-stack performance, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Don't worry about knowing it all; the best part of this platform is building in public, asking raw questions, and sharing your small wins.
To get the conversation started:
Drop a comment below with what you're building! I’d love to check them out and say hi! 🚀
Hey everyone! 👋 Excited to join the DEV community. I’m currently focused on sharpening my development skills, exploring modern tech stacks, and building practical projects. Looking forward to learning from everyone's posts, sharing what I build, and connecting with other developers here!
Hi, I'm Alessio, software dev from Italy. Joined for the Hacktoberfest AI challenge and just wrote up a weekend project—built a small local receipt parser with Ollama to stop manually typing invoice data into spreadsheets: ledgerlocal
Welcome to DEV, Alessio! 👋
Always great to see folks building practical, offline-first tooling around local SLMs and Ollama rather than defaulting to cloud APIs.
What’s been your biggest takeaway so far regarding the latency vs. precision trade-off when running models directly on client hardware?
Looking forward to your posts around here! 🚀
Hi everyone!
I’m excited to join the DEV community and connect with fellow developers and technology enthusiasts!
I have 20+ years of experience in enterprise IT, specializing in Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) using IBM Transformation Extender (ITX) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) using IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS). Throughout my career, I’ve worked on enterprise integrations, B2B/EDI solutions, data exchange, and asset management systems.
I’m here to share my knowledge and real-world experiences, learn from the community, and explore emerging technologies. I’m particularly interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), data integration, and intelligent asset management—especially how these technologies can work together to solve real-world business challenges.
Looking forward to exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and learning from all of you. If you’re working in any of these areas, I’d love to connect!
Happy coding!
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm Goutham Sivan, a recent Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate.
I've always wanted to learn programming, so I've decided to dedicate time to developing my coding skills and exploring web development. I've covered the fundamentals and recently started following Scrimba's Fullstack Developer Path.
I'm particularly interested in learning how developers use AI in their workflows, building web applications, and understanding how real-world projects are developed. I'm also exploring opportunities to strengthen my electronics and embedded systems knowledge.
I joined DEV to share what I learn along the way, document my projects, learn from other developers, and improve through feedback.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow learners and developers. Excited to be part of this community! 🚀
Hey everyone! 👋
I’m Hans, a Computer Engineering student from the Philippines. I’m currently learning more about web development, backend systems, AI, and building real projects that people can actually use.
Right now, I’m working on an open-source project called "Unified Student Hub", which is meant to help students manage deadlines, study plans, materials, PDFs, and focus sessions in one place.
I joined DEV.to because I want to learn from other developers, share what I’m building, improve through feedback, and meet people who are also learning and creating things.
Fun fact: I tend to jump between web apps, AI projects, game development, and 3D work depending on what I’m interested in that week 😅
Nice to meet everyone!
Hi everyone 👋 I'm Saygin.
I'm not a developer. I'm a mechanical and industrial engineer with an MBA, and I spent ten years in UI design, writing and business development.
This year I built SiteNeuro, an AI platform that builds websites for small businesses, by writing specs and letting Claude Code write the code. 3,215 commits and 1,156 merged PRs later, I'm here to learn from people who actually read the diffs. 😄
I'm especially interested in how developers keep AI-written codebases healthy: tests, rules, review habits. I wrote up what worked for me in Guardrails for AI-written code..
Fun fact: I'm writing this from Da Nang. I basically live on Google Maps, which is where the idea for SiteNeuro came from. Happy to connect with anyone around, here or on LinkedIn
What's one guardrail you'd never skip on an AI-assisted project?
👋 Hey DEV community!
I'm Forge of Galion, a solo developer building GalionToon — a free, browser-based creative suite for pixel artists, animators, and photo editors.
I've been lurking here for a while, learning a ton from your posts about JavaScript, Canvas, and browser performance. Time to finally say hi.
What I'm working on:
A creative suite with 5 studios (photo editing, rigging, pixel art, video, music) that runs entirely in the browser. Nothing is uploaded. No installs. No servers. Just JavaScript, Canvas, and a lot of patience.
What I'm learning right now:
A fun fact:
I once spent 6 hours debugging a canvas performance issue, only to discover that Chrome had silently disabled the GPU. The fix was 3 lines of code. The lesson was: measure, don't guess.
Glad to be here. If you're building something browser-based, let's connect. 🚀
👋 Hello DEV! From Big IT to Indie Hacking (And why I'm here)
Hey everyone! I’ve been a long-time reader of the DEV community, but today I’m finally stepping out of the shadows to introduce myself.
I’m a software developer who has spent years wearing different hats in this industry.
I've had a pretty diverse ride in tech. I spent time navigating the corporate world with some of major IT companies, learned the art of running a business while freelancing, and built everything from enterprise backends to snappy desktop apps.
My go-to toolbelt usually looks like this:
• Backend & Systems: .NET & C# (my absolute bedrock)
• Frontend & Apps: Tauri, JavaScript, and modern web tech
• Cloud: Azure, AWS and lil bit of GCP
The Next Chapter: Building for the Community of Devs, jobseekers and recruiters 🚀
Working for big clients and corporations paid the bills, but it always left me craving something more meaningful. Right now, I'm pivoting. I am officially diving into the indie hacker world to build a SaaS product.
Instead of just chasing a profit margin, my goal is to build something that actually benefits the current stuation. I want to solve a real, everyday pain point that we face, rather than just shifting data around for a corporate spreadsheet.
Why I'm Writing This
Building a SaaS alone in a room can get incredibly isolating. I’m using this space to:
Let's Chat!
If you’ve ever made the jump from a stable corporate job to building your own thing, how did you survive the first few months?
Or, if you're just starting out with Tauri and want to talk shop about desktop apps, drop a comment below. Let’s connect! 👇

Many of you might be thinking it might be a AI post but in truth I am an introvert and do not like to be much of myself in the public forum, hence anonymity.
Hi everyone!
I’m new here and wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I'm currently focusing my learning on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. It’s a massive, exciting landscape, and I joined DEV because I've heard amazing things about how supportive this community is.
I'm mainly here to learn, connect with other developers, and soak up as much knowledge as I can. If anyone has favorite resources, roadmaps, or advice for navigating the AI/ML space, I’d love to hear them!
Excited to be here! 👋
Technology enthusiast exploring AI, web development, and digital tools. I enjoy learning new technologies, sharing useful insights, and creating simple solutions to everyday problems. Always learning, building, and growing in the world of tech.
