Hi everyone, I’m Matt. Currently I work in healthcare and have a long career in human services. I recently caught the programming and product development bug and started learning front-end development. I intend to make a career change toward front-end. Looking forward to starting to network.
Fun fact: I’ve got too many interests. Feel free to start a conversation about anything, I’m willing to chat 😁
Hi matt, i too started in healthcare and are progressively making the move to programing and developing. Having spent so much time in the healthcare secture ive been struggling to finds ways to switch over. Any tips you've found beneficial ?
I’m still learning right now. My local library offers access to some coursera courses, so I’m taking Meta’s Frontend dev curriculum. It’s pretty good. I am now starting to learn react.
I’d also recommend freecodecamp as a financially friendly option. It sometimes feels like you’re just repeating what you learned in the lesson, but if you stick to it and work on applying it for yourself, you’ll find you are retaining information.
As far as practice, I’ve started building my portfolio from scratch. That’s given me a practical project to work on that will also demonstrate my skills. I’m starting with the HTML structure first. When I get the content how I want it, I’ll start styling with CSS.
Welcome to the community Matt, it's great to have you onboard.
Thanks!
Hello

Hi, I am Brad. I currently work as a contracted employee on an Agile team and currently a member of the Software Quality Assurance team. I create automated testcases using Selenium/Gauge and also run these testcases for all types of software testing that we do. I also do some manual testing of different defects and stories depending on what feature is being implemented. I graduated from college this past December and I have over 5 years of experience in programming mainly in Java but in other languages as well.
Welcome Brad
Hey guys. I'm Elisha, a very green software engineer. I have 1 year serious experience in software development and fresh out of campus. Also have a big interest in blockchain and web3. Looking to get watered and learn from you all.
If I wasn't a developer, I'd be a philosopher.
There’s still time! Just saying that as someone with a psyc / philo degree who’s working toward a second career as a dev. I’m not a philosopher, but the degree has been invaluable in my career and personal life until now.
Thanks Matt. I will definitely look into publishing some thoughts.

Hi guys. I'm Nadya. I am currently studying Js. (Node js, React) I used to make html and css websites. Programming has always been like a hobby for me. Now I'm making websites in js. Also, English is not my native language. I hope it's not very noticeable. Thanks Google Translate
Welcome to DEV!
And your English sounds great. 🙌 (Google Translate is such an awesome service... definitely something I regularly use!)
Anyway, this community has folks from all over the world, sometimes writing in their native languages and other times writing in English. Just to say that you fit right in here!
