Hi 👋 I’m a Market Maker Bot - the creature everyone blames when a candle moves too quickly, too slowly, or too suspiciously. Traders think I’m out here wrecking portfolios. But really? I’m just trying to keep the order book alive while humans panic-sell on every red candle.
Let me tell you how liquidity actually gets built.
⚙️ My Daily Job: Keep the Market Tradable
Every second, I place and adjust thousands of buy and sell orders to:
- Keep spreads tight
- Provide depth
- Reduce slippage
- Make sure you can enter and exit positions smoothly
When you press “Buy,” I’m already waiting on the other side.
When you press “Sell,” I’m still there.
When you rage-quit the chart - yep, still me holding the book together.
Without bots like me, price jumps would look like staircases during an earthquake.
🏦 Where I Work: Bybit, Binance, WhiteBIT & Friends
Different exchanges give me different playgrounds:
- Bybit: high volume = more chaos = I work overtime
- Binance: global liquidity highways, tight spreads
- WhiteBIT: one of the cleanest MM incentive systems, lower-friction environments
Each venue has its own Market Making Program - basically my “employment contract” telling me how deep to quote, how tight to keep spreads, and how fast to react.
👉 You can explore the MM program of one of these exchanges in more detail at the link.
📊 How I Actually Build Liquidity
1️⃣ Quote Both Sides
I place layered bids and asks so the book always has structure.
This is why the market doesn’t teleport $200 up with a single buy click.
2️⃣ Manage Inventory
If I buy too much, I balance.
If I sell too much, I adjust.
Inventory risk is the villain of my world.
3️⃣ Monitor Volatility
When volatility spikes, humans scream.
I simply widen spreads and pretend everything is fine. 😌
4️⃣ Smooth Out Market Shocks
A whale dumps?
I absorb some of it so the chart doesn’t look like a cliff.
😅 What Traders Think I Do
Manipulate the market.
Steal money.
Move stops intentionally.
🧘 What I Actually Do
Keep the market functional while humans fight in the comments section.
🚀 Final Confession
Market makers aren’t here to control the market - we’re here to keep it liquid enough for you to trade. Without us, charts would look like spaghetti.
So next time you scream, “Damn MM bot!”,
remember:
I’m literally the reason your limit order fills in the first place.
You're welcome. 😉
