Hello to all you wonderful new folks! Enjoy poking around DEV, reading some helpful articles about software development, and connecting with like-minded folks!
Hello Gracie 👋
Nice to see you enjoying your time around here. I do too. There's too much I want to engage with, but there are many gems to find.
Thank you, my second day here and feeling happy for becoming a part of this community.
I am trying to share few thoughts on regular expressions with the community by clicking "Create Post" and all I get is pre-formatted space for a photo upload and a title entry. The rest of the screen is blank, no formatting buttons. Is that how it's supposed to be, am I missing some config in my profile or is there a switch I need to turn on?
You've got a text area where you can write, right? That's where we can write in markdown. So it's a much simpler way of writing something akin to HTML.
You can check out this Markdown guide to learn some basic syntax.
Thank you for the link! That helped a lot.

Hi everyone from Paris, France
As a felt alone in my room I decided to join DEV.TO to read and learn about what I am fond of : coding. I also love motorbike, painting (as an artist), music & movies. Hope to find good people here. Thank you for reading.
Cool la planche
Merci ! :)
Hello to all. I'm here to learn mobile development. I'm studying Jetpack Compose, animations and physics. I didn't found content teaching physics and mobile development. So, I'll share with your writing articles here.
You mean animation physics?
Yes. I'll try getting physics concepts first and try to show where that concept are applied in mobile development. Mainly animations because motion is a known concept.
Hi all, I am Chakit. I am a Full Stack Developer. I always use to read the blogs from tech world and it encouraged me to write myself. I've been writing on other platforms for some time now, so I thought of starting DEV too. Looking forward to reading amazing posts and sharing my knowledge.
Hello Dev community, hope you all are doing well, I would love to connect with you guys so we can bounce off some ideas in future. I have found some great blogs yet more to be found, Also I will be writing my own blogs so be sure to follow me, and if you have any tips, you're welcome
Hello World, self taught Dev here, recently quit my chef job (well I guess that's fun fact about me, always surprised Devs find that interesting😜, and of course, I've made recipe calculator app that I then used on my job).
I'm now dedicating most of my time (have also to leave time for family etc) to further learning, working on my projects and searching for a job.
At the moment I'm passionately working on fast typing physical keyboard input, it is already working as a proof of concept and am polishing it to be able to put it online in hope that it would trigger some interest.
Got interested in typing long time ago, especially since I've learned touch typing 6 years ago in a week or so, though since I don't really use typing in a kitchen, never really used this skill much. But over the years, whenever I position my fingers on home row, i could touch type, I've didn't forgot it, even though I didn't use it.
So when I started learning Chinese, I've started learning by typing it out, and it works really well, on mobile, I can type rather fast, as I type lot on mobile, but in mobile one can get just as fast.
So I started thinking about how to type faster with both hands on physical keyboard, and this is how idea for this fast typing keyboard was born.
Was working also on other projects, on some with seasoned developers. They also help lot in my learning experience, but greatest help was just by listening my ideas, giving me feedback, and showing me that I can learn writing code on my own.
I've found this platform while looking for ways to network with other Devs and I really like podcasts here.
Typing on mobile: former BlackBerry owner here... those were the times, one could type a novel on it... it was tough to let that device go... I miss my BBerry still...
