VAT Engine is being built to make EU VAT compliance more practical for ecommerce businesses and developers. The project started from a recurring problem: VAT rules may be clear in legislation, but applying them consistently across countries, products, orders, refunds, marketplaces, and reporting systems is much harder.
We are building a developer-first platform focused on reliable VAT calculation, OSS/IOSS workflows, product tax classification, audit-ready transaction data, and ecommerce integrations. VAT Engine is currently developed independently in Germany, with Shopify as the first native commerce integration.
