Every developer has hit this moment — you have a side project, an API, or just something you want to test publicly, but you don't want to buy a domain just for that.
I hit this problem one too many times. So I built nxtdev.xyz — a free subdomain platform with real DNS control, built specifically for developers.
What is nxtdev.xyz?
nxtdev.xyz lets you claim a free subdomain like yourname.nxtdev.xyz and manage its DNS records directly — A, CNAME, TXT, MX — through a clean dashboard. No redirects, no tricks. Real DNS.
Why Free?
Because every developer deserves a real URL without a credit card. nxtdev.xyz is fully free — no hidden plans, no usage limits on the core feature

I really like this idea but why not .dev? Can I sponsor you a dev extension.
Honestly, .dev would be awesome! 😄 Thank you so much for the generous offer.
As a starting point we went with .xyz to keep things flexible, but .dev and more extensions are definitely on the roadmap as we grow and get more users.
Would love your support — share it with your friends and fellow devs too, every bit helps! 🙏
.dev is better I agree. I assume it might be cost of renewal the root domain.
I guess but if you charge users just 50c, a few users could cover the cost of the renewal?
That's actually a fair point! 😄 Even a small contribution from users could easily cover the renewal cost.
But for now we want to keep it completely free — no barriers for any developer regardless of where they're from. Maybe in the future a voluntary "support us" option could work without forcing anyone to pay.
Thanks for the idea though, really appreciated! 🤍
Sure, you're welcome. No problem, and thanks sharing your project!
Exactly! You nailed it 😄 The renewal cost of .dev is the main reason we started with .xyz — it's more sustainable for a free platform at this stage.
But as we grow, .dev is definitely on the list. Stay tuned! 🤍
I gave it a quick try working as expected. however I couldn't find any API guide. BTW, your RSS feed is not working. the temp mail is an awesome idea looking forward to test. API is crucial for updating our main A records with new IPs and I presume there are so many other use-cases. Thanks again for offering this for free.
