What's your best advice for a developer who keeps switching companies?

Hi everyone ,
I'm a 4 years experienced software developer and it's My 4th company in my career.
And now I'm switching to another company with good salary hike.
Is this normal to keep switching the companies ?

Any great advices ??
TIA ❤️

  1. you should absolutely get paid for your worth, and if you feel like you are over-performing for under-payment, then changing jobs is normal.
  2. Think about it from both sides:
    • Are you leaving/joining companies because compensatory or environmental reasons
  3. It doesn't look good to change jobs frequently, but what should be more impressive is your passion and your dedication to your career.
  4. Maybe take longer looks at your current and next position and make sure you are
    • furthering your growth
    • providing for you or your family
    • working in an environment/technology that makes you happy

The search for the perfect job is nearly endless, but you will stay with a position longer when you enjoy what you do and you enjoy the people you work with, the pay is a perk at that point.

I see it as progressing up the ladder. You are finding roles and a higher pay bracket. There is a cause for concern though if companies see you moving around a lot they might assume that you either don't get along well with the people you work with. Or perhaps you are not worth investing in because you don't stay long enough to make your mark.

There needs to be balance.
