1:36pm Sunday JUNE 18 WAT Lagos NG
It's been 32hours since my very first random gist. I felt lighter from putting my thoughts into words.
Post-publishing though, I did not know how else to feel except cringey. Now here I am writing again 😂
Feeling more motivated this time because the last one got read by some really great humans and omg the love on twitter especially from my Agba mentors - it was tremendous! *goofy dance. Really great feeling tbh.
So what am I typing about now? The answer again - I don't really know🤷♀️
To keep the writing fire burning? because "chronic starter" and "procrastinator" issues are real to me and the only way I find myself consistent at anything is by just doing without thinking too much.
Few months ago I joined #EliteWriters, a community on showwcase through a technical-writing-training tweet from @daveyhert & @heyonuoha 👋
Clueless but curious from reading @daveyhert's article on making humongous sums of money from this same technical writing, I joined to soak up knowledge with the intention of starting technical writing asap, but… the procrastinator in me had bigger plans...
When we were asked to vote for hashtags: #EliteWriter or #ShowwcaseWriter, a voice in my head did a wicked laugh as I boldly voted #EliteWriter ✅ The voice said "c'mon remove yourself from that ambition osiiso" but a smaller voice said "stay joor you can do this still".
So I stayed. Listened to some gurus, did some research then concluded that I wanted technical blogging instead of technical writing ✍️
The difference? The former is heavy on writing documentation like manuals for software or products with formal contexts in instructional style, to aid understanding for the users e.g. this simple one, while the latter is more of light-hearted writing about tech related stuff laced with casual contexts in a playful style. More on the differences here.
The latter appealed more to me more so...

Moving on, I just remembered @samperfect's words this evening at a twitter space hosted by Mide Dickson on building a killer portfolio:
<blockquote>
“The things you know, make sure you really know them
And understand why they behave the way they behave.
The granular things, the basic steps, the fundamentals,
Why document things in one way as opposed to the other,
etc etc”.
</blockquote>
Ok I think I'm done offloading my random thoughts for now.
If you actually read up to this point, thank you 🙏
I don't know how you do it but hmm, you're just so amazing and for that I truly appreciate you ♥︎
Till my maybe next post, have a good time ahead, cheers.
*randomDeets:
It took me 17 long hours to finish this because I got sleepy and slept, woke up, typed some more, gave up, typed again after pep-talking myself, paused and got busy with house chores, picked up again - and finally finished wayyy past midnight 6:05am Monday JUNE 19 WAT 😰
Writing is not an easy thing o! All thou who write regularly, you deserve all your flowers please 🌺
Once again, I set a timer just to see how long reading this would take and guess what - it took 3minutes😊 Not bad? Cheers!
