Hello there,
I am a programmer, and not so long ago I felt the desire to learn how to make good presentations and videos for my projects - I created an YouTube channel, and gradually I learn how to record sound, make videos, etc. It's funny... Really 😁
I am overwhelmed with the desire to create something new, so I decided to also join DEV.to and share the text versions for you.
Nice to meet you 👍
Just wanted to say welcome to everyone new and not-so-new to DEV. 👋
Hope y'all enjoy it here!

Hi everyone!
Welcome to the dev.to-community!
I'm Martin, and I worked as a Senior Front End Architect and Engineering Manager at one of the world's largest digital agencies, where I led Front End Teams for international projects. After 15 years, I quit my job. Now I travel the world as a professional scuba diver, work as a freelance Front End Tech Lead and technical Recruiter for international clients. Besides that, I write about technology.
My latest book about Modern Full Stack development will be published in the beginning of next year by No Stach Press. It's an easy, hands-on introduction to creating web applications with Next.js, MongoDB and Mongoose (there's currently a 25% Discount!). You can read more about how to become a published author in my upcoming article about writing books.
I am mentoring fellow developers on another platform as well as on dev.to. I am currently publishing the "LevelUp: Elevate your Career Today" series where I give Career and Interview advice based on my experience as Engineering Manager and Technical Recruiter. (It's bascially free mentoring, don't tell my paying mentees about that :D)
If I have enough time, I write more in-depth articles, for example how to create multi-language pages with next export, which is on GitHub:next-export-i18n and npmjs: next-export-i18n
I recommend following the general tags webdev, vscode , career and productivity and javascript, react, CSS. Head over to your Dashboard and adjust the tag weight to personalize your home feed.
Here's a list of articles to start your journey as a successful developer and a great writer:
If you are looking for your next job, I highly recommend buying the Book De-Coding the Technical Interview Process by Emma Bostian. It is hands down the best preparation for every technical interview.
If you're interested in my articles, follow me on dev.to/martinkr or twitter.com/_martinkr.
If you have questions or want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me on dev.to/martinkr.
And remember to start posting today!
Cheers!
What an awesome message! Appreciate you dropping so many great resources. That book by Emma sounds super helpful! 🙌
Also, traveling the world as a professional scuba diver sounds incredible! I imagine you're getting to experience some really beautiful places.
I’m Jack.
I have moved from Medium to Dev.to because Medium is blocked in Viet Nam.
Hope you dig the community, Jack! Great to have ya with us. 🙂
Welcome, I hope you like it here.
Hey everyone!
Im a beginner in the entire Developer space, and i felt like i could get some great advice, and get some inspiration from this community.
I look forward to what I achieve in the near future with the help of this community.
🤟
I wish you success. To get useful information or advice, it is also important to be able to distinguish good articles from bad ones. This is probably the most important thing to advise. And considering that there are a lot of people here who write a bunch of meaningless articles, I advise you to be more careful, vigilant and critical of everything. Also, do not neglect to read the comments under the articles, you can often find useful or complementary information there. Well, it's not worth adding a bunch of articles to bookmarks, because you'll probably be too lazy to read them anyway. Save only what you are really interested in, not paying attention only to the title.
Hi there, I'm a Software Engineer currently working for an AI company helping doctors with treatment planning using patient scans.
I'm here to learn, expand on my knowledge and collaborate on more projects with community,
Hi Ali! welcome to DEV. This is a pretty good attitude! hope you'll grow in this community :)
Thanks, hope so too.
Hello there!
I'm excited to join this vibrant community. I am a Systems Engineer (infrastructure not development), I've decided to delve into the world of blogging to enhance my technical writing skills. Through my blog, I aim to create accessible guides that facilitate both learning and teaching, covering tasks that are a little less common in my day-to-day work.
At the moment, I'm actively engaged in expanding my knowledge of software engineering and aspiring to transition into a role within that domain. I have a series of upcoming posts in the pipeline, where I'll be sharing insights on the topics I'm currently exploring.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow developers here and embarking on this enriching journey together!
Welcome, welcome! Glad to have ya in the community!

Hello. I'm the old fart in the group. I started at age 6 learning BASIC on a Heathkit H89, then worked my way up to Apple Pascal on a ][e, followed by Turbo Pascal on an 80286 PC in High School. I learned C++ in college I've been doing embedded C/C++ development since. Around 2015 I found myself not writing code anymore and instead doing only project management stuff. I missed coding. And 2020 made me realize I need to get back to it.
The past couple of years I've been trying to ramp up on all this new stuff, learning JS/TS, HTML/CSS, React, Vue.js, Express, PHP, Go, Python, Rust, etc. The more I learn, the more I realize how much more I don't know. I created an account on here a while back just to be able to easily save a few pages. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? I guess I'm finding out. I still have at least 10 years left before I can think about hanging my hat up. I've got bills to pay and teenagers to feed.
Hey Dan! I hope you're enjoying DEV.
I bet you have lots of wisdom to pass on from your years of experience and hopefully you're enjoying learning about all the new stuff out there from folks in the community. Anyway, great to have ya with us here!
E aew, galera... Beleza?

Welcome to the community! Seja bem vindo!
Thank u, bro. Obrigado, mano. :D
It's simple mindset but just drafting more blog articles I don't care if it has already been written a thousand times
It's for my own personal journaling benefit It helps me to remind myself but if it helps someone else out there that's a plus in my book ..!!
Hey Fuad,
That's what's up! I think that's a great mindset to have. 🙌
Writing for yourself so that you can learn the concepts better is a smart approach and like ya said, bonus if it helps somebody else out there too. 😀

Hello All!
I am recently engaged in teaching a new hire in my team how to code from day 1 (he was hired from the business team because of his business knowledge). I've mentored developers for many years, but have never had to start at the beginning before. I started out looking for resources online for some good ways to start someone on their coding journey (it's been over 20 years since I went through this personally and my memory of it is a bit fuzzy).
Anyway, found a blog post/video that referenced this site in the list of social media, and I was naturally drawn to the "DEV" icon (I wonder why...hmm).
Looking forward to meeting new people and collaborating.

Hello everyone! I am an IT Support Specialist and currently studying web development so I can start a career in programming. I am taking the front-end pathway course on Code Academy. Soon, I will have the skills necessary to be web dev!
Welcome. I'm not the best example to follow, as I'm not writing either here or on my blog, but I suggest you share your learning path, show your code, let others celebrate your successes with you and write about your failures. Yes, the latter is essential to blog because making errors is the best way to learn.
