Overview of My Submission
Has anyone told you to close the toilet lid after using bathroom? And you can't make a habit of doing so? Then, this is the system you need!
This is an alert system to keep your toilet clean and keep your partner happy.(If he/she doesn't like your way of using toilet.lol)
With this system, if you leave bathroom without closing the toilet lid , the unique alert system and a desktop notification let you know you forget to close the lid.

Why I built this system
Because my girlfriend often tells me to close the toilet lid after using bathroom but I always forget to do that. She says closing it is good for keeping the toilet clean and having less chances to drop something into toilet. I agreed with her but could not make a habit of closing the lid everytime I use bathroom. At that time, I happened to use Azure IoT Hub at work and find this azure hackathon on DEV.to. I felt like I could build something to break my bad habit and decided to join the hackathon!
I hope this system will help somebody who has the same habit and a partner who doesn't like it. lol

Let me ask you about my prize of Azure Trial Hackathon.
I know this is not the right place to ask but I sent emails and twitter DM to DEV team last week and got no words from them.So this is the last place to ask, I guess.
My question is , did my application form get accepted and is sending the prize on the way?
I didn't receive the prize money and sticker pack yet though the form says dev team will start sending it from April 11th.
I am not in a hurry but I just want to check if my application was received and is on the process or not.

Hi @iron_samurai , I got the first package of my Forem Shop order yesterday. Second part is on it's way.
I haven't received anything else yet.
I'm a bit worried because I do not know whether I answered everything correctly in the form I had to fill. Until now there was no feedback that everything was correct but there is no money either.

I thought the same thing. I don't even know if my form is submitted successfully or not and got no confirmation email after submission. I hope they will not say that my form is not received and I cannot get the prize.
By the way, I have a question about the coupon. Though I asked another guy the same thing, let me also ask you about it.
Does the coupon has residual value if purchase amount
is less than the coupon amount ?
I don't know if there is residual value because I have used it in one order.

It seems that swags are being delivering to everybody without problem. Maybe because the shop system is automated and the prize money transferring is not..

I am iron_samurai and also one of the winners in the category of Wacky Wildcard.I have one thing to ask.
Did you already receive the prizes? If any of you did not receive the prize , I think we can help each other to receive them.
Needless to say I didn't get mine, though the prize notification email said DEV team would start processing from April 11th.
I've been waiting for responses from DEV team to my email,twitter DM,mention above but got no words so far.
So I started wondering if if this is happening only to me or not.

I haven't heard or received anything as well. I'm sure they're working on it though. Couple of years back I did a hackathon and as a participant got some swag but it was like 6 months later, out of nowhere.
Yay, it might take some time for the swags for sure due to the logistics. But for cash prize it's easy to just hit transfer in PayPal.

I don't think so but I'm not sure, I have used my 162$ voucher in a single order. Beware of the shipping cost if you live outside the US ;o)
Overall regarding the delay of the prizes I guess it always takes some time to arrive (I have seen the same kind of discussion for other hackathons on DEV), let's chill and trust the DEV team 😉
And @iron_samurai I hadn't seen your contribution before, it is really cool (from an Azure IoT Hub lover 😉), congrats for doing this within a month 🚀

Thank you so much! Glad to know that you are also a IoT Hub lover :-) In my opinion, Azure has less technical articles on the internet compared to AWS or GCP. Your posts would be my help and I hope my future posts will be your help, someday. (currently, struggling performance tuning using Stream Analytics and batching telemetries)

Same here, but I'm sure they'll sort it out. They have been hosting these hackathons for years, and sometimes things don't align too well and delays occur. Maybe we could just wait and see 😃

They probably have a lot of people asking for the same thing. They can't reply to anyone and I guess they suspect that adding it to any public thread, so everyone could read, can make the people who would be participating in future hackathons reluctant, since they'd publically confirm that the participants are facing delays. Again, this is pure speculation... Let's hope for the best 😃

@iron_samurai looks like they started to hit the transfer button in their PayPal app. I received my trophy money today.
Me too. Money in my paypal account today, and my swag arrived earlier this week.
(NB - I didn't have any money left over on my voucher, I spent the lot and then paid a little bit extra out of my own pocket...).

I got a reply about the prize from DEV team! I finally got relieved though I couldn't receive the prize because of my fault. lol I didn't finish my identity verification and had the receiving limit.
I would receive the prize after the verification process ends or maybe use alternative transfer solution.
Anyway, I would be able to receive what I should get.
Again, thank you for everything. Without you sharing information, I would have been much more anxious.
