Correlating The Book, “Indian Law For A Common Man” With AI

The Indian law is an intricate web of centuries of history that curated the laws in use today, as depicted in the book Indian Law For A Common Man by Sree Krishna Seelam. It presents an interesting parallel to the role of AI in curating knowledge and enhancing the understanding of common folks in regards to complex systems.

Just as the book makes the legal terminology easy for a common citizen, AI has the potential to simplify complex information—including law—into an easily understandable language. Tedious human effort was employed to translate the jargon—but AI, by utilising natural language processing and machine learning algorithms, can easily translate difficult terms and phrases into everyday language, making legal frameworks more accessible to people who are far from the legal background. This aligns with the intention of the book, which aims to hand a comprehensive study of the law to the citizens so that they are aware of their own rights and powers.

AI applications also serve as valuable tools in increasing legal literacy. For instance, legal chatbots or AI-driven platforms, as used by MiddleMen.asia to deliver justice to the underprivileged, can provide answers to common legal queries instantly. Much like MiddleMen’s initiative and the bots and AI they have linked, AI can help in fixing an individual with a relevant lawyer after analysing their situations as per laws. AI can personalise effortlessly.

It’s a chain reaction from here on out: For an AI to personalise, it will need inputs. And after even vague inputs, it will list all the possible domains that a person may want to check out; thus it raises awareness too. Curiosity is a big part in the fight for rights. It is similar to how when one goes onto Google to look up a doubt and comes back with new knowledge about additional things. Prompt answers from AI will churn the brain for more alternatives. Thus, the need to know more will bubble.

There is an interplay between the efficiency of AI and the increase of knowledge. And it lies in judicious use of resources as prompted by a spark of curiosity.
