Why I Killed One of My Micro Tools to Supercharge Another

As an indie hacker and solo game developer, I am constantly building tools to solve my own problems.

Out of the micro tools I have made recently, I created one called Radar where you could search a game title and find shorts (and later, trailers) to use for inspiration.

But as I continued building apps that used a credit system, I realized I was breaking a cardinal rule in software development:** Don't Repeat Yourself (DRY)**. So, I decided to take Radar and fully merge it into Scout.

Scout is now an all-in-one hub for indie game marketing and discovery, packed with everything you need to get your game in front of players:

Content Creator Outreach

Curate and find relevant creators quickly to build your influencer lists.

Trailer & Short Discovery

Search and get inspired by game trailers and shorts all in one place.

Verified Capsule Artists

I have also integrated the verified artists from CapsuleTalent (a directory I started in late 2025) directly into Scout, making it effortless to find professional artists for your Steam capsule art.

Building in public means constantly iterating and refining based on what actually works. Merging these features lets indie devs spend less time juggling tabs and more time building and marketing games.

Have you ever had to merge or kill apps? Let me know in the comments.
