Talk 1 title: Bias in NLP: using linguistics and computer science to improve AI/ML fairness by Alina Zhiltsova
In this talk I will briefly talk about various types of biases in NLP and where they can be found by a regular online user. We will also discuss how these biases can be measured and mitigated, and the benefits of having skills from non-STEM domains for such task.
NLP Data Scientist with 5+ years of background in linguistics. Teaching how languages work both to people and to the algorithms.
As someone who works a lot with communities, I have more Twitter accounts than I can count. Add the weekly events, blog posts, and emails we have to deal with - I call it "the Copy & Paste ritual" and any sort of effective management can get close to impossible.
With that in mind, I've decided to write a script to generate all social media content for weekly events I have been running for one community.
The project consists of a folder with templates, and a script. Running the script generates all the content to be posted on the weekly social media channels and I regained my rights to have a movie night on Sunday evenings!
Lais Carvalho is an excited Developer Advocate and an adventurous Python enthusiast. With a background in Engineering, Lais moved to Dublin (Ireland) 6 years ago from Brazil and is about to graduate in IT. Lais loves yoga, chocolates and chatbots.
I'd like to thank all those who have been attending and watching our videos, we appreciate your support as it took a lot of work to set it up, if you are curious, you can read Vicky's post about it: https://dev.to/pyladiesdub/live-streaming-from-zoom-meet-via-obs-to-youtube-2l3h - any feedback would be helpful to make this process smoother and easier to manage. 🥰
