How sports made me a better developer

It's been several weeks since I got into the sport,

I give you the little anecdote that goes well, 65 Kilos in 2018 -> 100 kilos in March 2020.

In fact, I left a job in the restaurant business where I moved around so much and even eating badly I kept my weight of 65 kilos, once I started my new job as an independent developer, I spent 2 years not stop in an office. Without moving, still eating badly. And that was other things.

I didn't fit in any of my clothes anymore and I had to redo a big part of my wardrobe because I was gaining weight. From one month to another I could no longer put my newly acquired things.

Click?
I no longer liked the way I looked in the mirror. And when you start not loving yourself anymore, you enter a complicated phase of your life.

Desire for nothing, loss of energy and motivation, feeling of being useless and heavy. And also happened something that I did not know at all, Weightism .

Whenever I saw someone I hadn't seen in a long time, there was always a hint of the size of my belly. And once I was offered the front seat in the car, because otherwise they would be tight behind.

That was all the trigger. One, I didn't feel well, and two, I was never used to being insulted by others.

I took matters into my own hands in March 2021, a year after my weight gain, I was already at 100kg.

At the beginning of the year, I started doing sports in the gym, Basic Fit type; but the experience was a failure, lack of motivation to go there and not really any results, I didn't really know what to do so I stayed in the comfort of the easy machines.

Then I lost a lot by doing more sport at home, every evening when I got home from the office, but my motivation, like in the gym, quickly flew away, I had however lost nearly 4 kilos during this period.

After that I had moments of breaks, where I clearly didn't care anymore. I then then undertook to find a personal coach not without knowing that it was expensive.

Then I found a great program, indoor cycling. And that's the kif, firstly we're in a group, so it's motivating, secondly the coaches are great, and since it's in a group, it's also less expensive, but personalized all the same, and thirdly there has a huge screen behind which projects videos which gives a semblance of decor it was enough to convince the geek who lies dormant in me, and also music at the bottom to be immersed in the universe! And I've stuck to it ever since I signed up.

I lost 7 (edit 11 May 2022: 22 for now :D) kilos in a month and a half . And the motivation is still more than ever.

So to answer the original question (I know I got a bit lost), How has sport made me a better developer?

It's very simple. I took down the screens, and I devoted myself to other activities. Sport, my balanced diet, spending time with my family. And even if it seems counterproductive it is not at all! On the contrary, when I do my developer tasks, I perform much better. Because sport is also a way to unload, and to restore pep to your body and your mind, it is therefore very beneficial for your daily tasks and your lifestyle.

I also noticed that this sport goal also allowed me to take on new skills. That of going to the end of things. Today each project is realized. And like in sport, even if it's not perfect, I will go after things.

Group work does:

  • Strengthened the mind
  • Broken the barriers of shyness (we shout at sport to encourage each other, it feels so good)
  • Want to give the best of yourself for the group

Today I am at 89 kilos (edit 11 May 2022: 78). I still have a little to lose (I'm 1m73). But I'm proud of what I'm accomplishing, and I feel so much better about myself!

And that too is one of the things that makes me a better developer.

Thanks for reading me!

After a few years, I finally rejoined a gym 6 months ago. I'm usually able to workout during the launch break and it feels great, but when I have the possibility to go to the gym in the early morning I think I'm way more productive during the entire day.

Many of you tell me that when you train in the morning, you are more productive during the day. Thank for your feedback !

Sports often require dedication and consistent effort to improve. This same discipline and work ethic can be applied to coding. Consistently working on your skills and projects things to do in ao nang is essential for growth.

👏 Amazing work!

It's interesting how exercise makes a better refreshment of the mind. For a few months, even though I sometimes turn on the computer before I exercise, I don't code until after I exercise. And it feels pretty good.

Thank you for such a great article! I also find working on platforms like Zwift, etc help me not only clear my head, but also look at their development lifecycle and get involved :)

Sports helps an individual much more than in the physical aspects alone. It builds character, teaches and develops strategic thinking and analytical thinking. You can support site here for more wanted to know.

As a developer myself, I constantly stay put on my desk, coding my heart out especially when I have a bug that is taking too long to fix.

However, I found out that I could fix bugs a lot faster when I stand up from my seat and take a work either alone or with a friend.

Just like you just discovered how sport can be very beneficial to a developer, you'll agree with me that it is not all "Eat, Code, Sleep"

Engaging in sports and being a developer may seem unrelated, but there are valuable lessons and skills that you can carry from the sports field into your career as a developer JT ER2 Pump Paintball. Here are some ways in which participating in sports can make you a better developer:

It is a compelling testament to the transformative power of sports. Dear Admin's journey from a sedentary lifestyle to an active one, shedding over 20 kilos, is inspiring. What's remarkable is how this change positively impacted not only their physical health but also their mental well-being and professional performance. The emphasis on the benefits of group sports and teamwork adds depth to their story. Overall, it's a motivating reminder of the importance of self-care and its broader positive effects. 8171
