The Context-Switch Tax
Every time I alt-tab to my task manager, I lose 30 seconds re-orientating. Open app, find list, add task, switch back. For a task that takes 5 minutes, that's a 10% overhead just for administration.
I wanted a task list that lived where I was already working: the browser.
Daily Planner & To-Do List
Daily Planner & To-Do List is a Firefox extension that puts a lightweight task list in your browser sidebar or popup.
Features:
- Add tasks with keyboard shortcuts
- Check off completed items
- Organize by day
- No account, no sync, everything local

Why Not Just Use Todoist or Notion?
Because I don't want to load Todoist every time I remember a task. I want to open the extension panel, type, and close it. That takes 3 seconds. Loading a web app takes 5-10.
And I don't need project management. I need a daily list that resets each morning.
How I Use It
I keep a single tab of my code/work open. When I think of something to do, I hit the keyboard shortcut, type the task, done. No context switch.
At the end of the day, I check what's left, carry over anything important, close the panel.
The Trade-off
It doesn't sync across devices. Everything is browser-local. For solo daily task tracking, that's fine. For team task management, you need something else.
If your workflow is "work in browser, keep a running list of today's tasks," this is built for exactly that.
Free Firefox extension. No account.
