I just signed up for Twilio Sendgrid and got instantly permabanned.

So, I am currently developing a new service that needs to be able to send transactional emails. I therefor signed up to Twilio Sendgrid, which seemed to have a nice free tier with 100 emails per day, which would be more than enough for my tiny first test of my new product.

I jumped through the normal hoops of signing up for the service, but when confirming my email something suddenly went wrong, at the same time an email reached my inbox:

Hello

We appreciate your interest in Twilio SendGrid and your efforts in completing our account creation process. After a thorough review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to proceed with activating your account (*****) at this time.

Ensuring the security and integrity of our platform is our top priority, and our vetting process is designed to detect potential risks. While we understand the importance of transparency, we are not able to provide the specifics of our vetting process.

We want to emphasize that our decision is based on stringent security measures and our commitment to the safety of all our users.

Thank you for considering Twilio SendGrid.

Sincerely,
Onboarding & Compliance Operations

No problem right? This must be some sort of automated response to something strange in my application, perhaps I was too quick and misstaken for a robot?

My reply:

I just opened an account? Why cant it be activated?

Their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for your continued patience.

Twilio SendGrid leverages many different verification techniques to reach a decision. Unfortunately, after careful review, we have determined that our platform is not a good fit at this time and your account will not be activated.

Several more emails back and forth were sent, with no explanation to my ban. Just these vague accusations of me beeing a security risk.

I will now move on to other services (hello Postmark!). I have also seen several other posts on here about Twilios poor record of customer care. I would just like to leave this here as a warning for all developer of Twilios services that your api:s at any point can be shut down without explanation.

Hi, I saw your post about getting instantly banned while signing up for a Twilio SendGrid account. I recently ran into the same issue and was wondering if you managed to resolve it.
If so, would you mind sharing how you fixed it? I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

I just had the same issue. Tried it with my gmail account first, then tried with a custom email tied to a domain that I own... no luck.
