I'm old, I've been developing professionally for a while but never got involved in the open source community. I think I'd like to finally get involved and just get a pulse on the community. I'm mostly Java/Javascript but I'd like to get back into game development like I was back in college. What do most of y'all use for 2D or small scale games if anyone here is into that?
There are more options for smaller games than larger, 3D games, like godot and cocos are very popular, but nowadays, more creative developers aren't even bound to use game engines, such as just hand rubbing threejs, haha
Yea I think the last time I did any game development, Microsoft XNA Framework was still being supported, but yea you gotta be a particular type of dev to be using javascript to code games lol
Check out LittleJS! Not my project. It's young and a bit messy, but it has some great demos that you can start hacking on right away. Great for game jams and just having fun.
Hello hello!
hiiiii
Yo, what's up? I'm Ankit. I'm in the process of learning Java, DSA, and the MERN stack, along with CS fundamentals and other cool things related to development. I joined this community to dive deeper into the dev community. Hope you all are having a good time!
"Nice, bro! Keep learning and exploring. One recommendation is to avoid trying to do too many things at once. Focus on one thing, complete it, and then move on to the next. Just a suggestion; maybe it will work for you!"
Btw I am also doing java
Thanks for the tip.
Hey, thanks buddy. Btw I'm learning Java from Andrii Piatakha(Udemy), how about you? and any suggestions regarding java? I've started this monday only.
I’m following Tim’s Java course on Udemy, and it’s also part of my curriculum. Java is a vast subject, so I recommend taking notes. I suggest using a tool like Notion to create a digital notebook for organizing everything. And of course, the importance of practice can’t be overstated. Practice, practice, and practice some more — you’ll eventually start connecting the dots.
Feel free to reach out if you need anything. I might learn something from you as well.
Happy upskilling ❤️
that was so sweet of you. surely, when i'd learn enough will discuss things with you.
till then, happy coding :)
good advice
Hello and Welcome Ankit!
Awesome...keep learning...
Great to have you!
Hey there, it's been a few years reading this community and I think it's time to become active here too.
I've been working corporate for the last 8 years, and now I'm trying to find new challenges outside my 9to5 to keep updated and learn new things.
My name is Chinaza Okpani. I'm here to learn how to manage projects, hope I'm welcomed in this forum?
@beauty_okpani_d9f8f2a92b5 Of course your are welcome, you will find a couple of articles about managing project. Feel free to write about your progress of project management: best practices / things to avoid / etc.
Welcome
The idea is that you create the personal chat system for the developers in this website (dev.to) Dev Community.
Hello Mirzia, I would recommend you to write one single comment instead of four, It will be better to understand your introduction message :D
Thanks! 🙂
Hello, I am Saami from India. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science and learning full-stack Java, but I plan to eventually dive into Spring Boot. I am passionate about technology and have previous experience working with Python and its libraries (Selenium, Pandas, Tk, beautiful soup etc.). I left that path midway (cause of something) and am now focusing on Java, hoping to excel in it!
Computer grad student, new to the dev community. Huge comp sci theory and algorithms geek , unfortunately haven't coded enough to back the claim(Chat am I cooked?). Looking to explore game dev, and learn just enough data structures to land me a job('coz leetcode sucks). xD
Hello everyone,
