My Journey from Law to Data Science: A Continental Leap of Faith 🚀

Hello, DEV community! 👋 I’m Nicole, and I’m excited to share my journey into the world of data science with all of you in my very first post. 💻✨

I’m originally from Blumenau, Brazil, and I graduated in Law, but I always knew it wasn’t my true calling. The field felt too rigid, too hierarchical, and lacked the creativity and exploration I craved. 🧐 I was lost, searching for my passion.

But that all changed when the pandemic attacked 🌍 I had a lot more free time, and on one fateful day, out of pure curiosity, I decided to try Python. And that’s when things started to click.

I was hooked. 🔥 Coding became a problem-solving adventure—late-night sessions, debugging, and cracking the code—sometimes staying up until 2 AM just to see my project run. 😅

Fast forward a bit: I realized that this was the moment for a massive career change. But it wasn’t just a shift in my job—it was a complete overhaul of my life. I took a leap of faith and decided to move to Berlin still during the pandemic to pursue a scholaship for a Data Science Bootcamp... which meant changing cities, countries, and even CONTINENTS. 🌍✈️

People gasp

Let me tell you: it was one of the biggest challenges of my life. Everything was new, unfamiliar, and incredibly overwhelming. It turned out to be one of the scariest but also most rewarding choices I’ve ever made and I was incredibly grateful for the opportunity I received. It ignited my passion for data science. 🔥

After finishing the bootcamp, I realized I was just getting started. That’s when I decided to take things further and pursued a Master’s in Computer Science and Data Science at the University of Sunderland. And, to my delight, I graduated with distinction! 🎓✨

Now, I’m diving deep ~ pun intended ~ into the exciting worlds of Machine Learning and AI, I am fascinated. 💡

I’m eager to continue growing, pushing boundaries, and contributing to this ever-evolving field. I’m excited to connect, learn, and collaborate with brilliant minds around the world. 🌍💼

If you’re in the field or have any advice, tips, or connections, feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect and learn from you all!🚀

Curious about my coding journey or how I made the leap to Berlin? Let me know—I'm happy to share more about both! ✨

🎉 Let’s connect! 🎉
