I know-I know, many of you will be thinking What's a bounty?
, Who's a bounty hunter?
in the programming world (of course π), and then What are Algora and Opire?
. Well, Calm down mate! I will be covering everything from the basics.π
If you google the meaning of bounty, you'll get this as a result: a sum paid for killing or capturing a person or animal. Again, Calm down.. Calm downnnn... Calm downnnnnnnn... We are not going to murder anyone π
Bounty is a reward that is awarded for doing something that others can't be able to do. In the Developer's world, bounty is a reward, mainly currency, awarded to those who solve/fix/find a particular issue for an Organization.
Bounty Hunters are those who look for a particular bounty, solve/fix it, and get awarded! Are you a bounty hunter or want to become one?? Answer it in the comment section. π
But Why does an organization give bounty?? The answer is very simple. To keep their project alive and popular and to boost their community!!! But the process of giving bounty is so hard and time-consuming, there they take the help of some platforms to make it seamless. In this blog, I'll be talking about two of them.
So, lets start... 3... 2... 1... Go π’
Β
What is Algora π₯?
Algora is a platform that is used by organizations to make/award bounties to contributors.
Organizations can leverage the Algora API to build a custom bounties portal for your project. Here's a walkthrough of how to do it:
Or you can go with the Algora Bot! Follow the Docs, and you'll be good to go! Link here: https://docs.algora.io/
Β
What is Opire βοΈ?
Opire is also as same as the Algora-like platform that is used by organizations to make/award bounties to contributors.
With Opire, anyone can create rewards for open-source projects and grow their community, while developers can solve issues and earn the associated rewards.
To leverage Opire, just install the Opire Bot. And follow the docs. It's super easy!!
If you have some bad experiences with bots, then you can also use Opire without Opire Bot by creating the rewards in the dashboard and claiming them there.
Here's the Doc link: https://docs.opire.dev/

In Algora you have to pay when the bounty is created and they keep the funds, which allows them to have functionalities like "AutoPay" (paying the developer when their PR is merged).
On the other hand, in Opire, you pay (or rather, you are allowed to pay) when someone claims the bounty, the reason is that Opire wants to give the bounty creators security that Opire will not leave and keep their money (as happened with BountySource), that also gives the creator the flexibility to pay whenever they want (when the PR is merged, when the PR is created, when the issue is closed...)
Β
Reasons Why you should use Algoraπ₯?
- Easy to use and customize.
- Create/reward bounties with easy commands like
/bounty [amount]
,reward [amount]
, etc. [by using Algora Bot] - Easy for contributors to search any particular bounties with their tech stack.
- Easy to get your reward away.
- No need to promote a bounty, Algora will take care of that!
Reasons Why you should use Opire βοΈ?
- Opire Bot is free; hence, there is no loss for organizations.
- Create/reward bounties with easy commands like
/bounty [amount]
,reward [amount]
, etc. - By enabling the creation of rewards for your issues, your project advances and improves quickly.
- Less popular, hence more offers for organizations.
- Great UI. Self understandable (both for contributors and organizations)

Β
Moving to the end... π₯Ή
In both Algora and Opire, the developer receives 100% of the reward and it is the one who creates the reward who pays that extra on top of the reward.
So, are you ready to hunt some bounties??
I earned many bounties on Algora. Till now, I'm not able to get any Opire bounty, but I guess soon I'll be! Pray all the best for me! Here's my GitHub Handle.
Bounties are a great way to add some pocket money to your wallet. If you are good at your tech, then you must go for it. It'll boost you as well!
That's all for today, thanks for reading till here. Grab some bounties, and showoff to the world!!!
