My dev life has just started 😎👩‍💻

Hi there all this is my first post on dev.to (I love this platform 😍👍).

This is regarding any advice all the experinced developers can give me as I have just started my very first internship as a Backend Developer at DyfoLabs.

I will be working on problems in home automation and using IoT to solve them.

I would like to thank 😄 all those people who posted a lot of great content on dev.to regularly .

I have learned so much during these 3,4 months(my presence on dev) through dev.to which I guess may have driven me to this opportunity.

Once again thank you all (I wish I could tag all of them ☺️).

My little random tidbits of advice....

Review Senior Dev PRs - Sometimes when you are starting out you think you have no business reviewing a senior dev's code. FALSE! You totally should! You might just spot something they missed(has happened multiple times to me!). Worst case, if you don't find a bug, you will learn something from reading their code. I still learn from reading other's code.
Dont Be Afraid To Ask Questions or Ask for Help! - Everyone needs help at some point, no matter how experienced they are. The sooner you get comfortable asking for help when you need it, the better.
Keep Your Head Up! - There will be days when you are staring at a problem that you can't make heads or tails of and you will feel like you have no business coding. Just know, that is totally NORMAL! I still have days like that!

Now go crush some code!!!

"Review Senior Dev PRs" FTW! I totally agree with this.

We had a book club on my team at Comcast when I was a junior and it totally helped me level up. Maybe you could convince your team to start one?

This is what I do. There's always something to learn even when you're a seasoned developer.

Not asking questions will only make matters worse if you don't know.

Awesome!!! Cultivation of the passion of learning plus finding ways to accelerate your rate of learning is important. So do your best in focusing on documenting what you had learnt on weekly basis to share it to the world.

Take good notes. That new cool obscure thing you just figured out how to do? Your brain is likely going to throw it out the window in the next two weeks. Take notes, review them periodically, and sort through what you haven't committed to your long-term memory. I use a combination of my company's Stack Overflow boards and my own notes on Notion.so to remember little fiddly things. "How did I serialize that in the last project? Oh yeah, check the notes." Future you will thank past you for taking good notes :D
