From GitHub to DEV: The keys to async/distributed work

I want to call attention to the second episode of the DevDiscuss podcast.

play pause DevDiscuss

In this episode, we welcomed @sophiedebenedetto, an engineer from GitHub, and @maestromac, a DEV team member who's been with us pretty much since the very beginning.

Jess and I really enjoyed riffing on a topic we all feel like we've gained a certain expertise in (with a lot to learn!!). As the world has shifted remote-first in a way none of of us could have predicted, this is a prescient topic for all of us.

Quick Listening Links

Here is a link to the post @jess made when we officially went "fully distributed", if you're in for a good read to complement the podcast.

Happy coding ❤️

Another great podcast episode. Also I've been looking for a headless cms for e-commerce and commerce.js looks promising.

This podcast is really nice. But I do have a question about working remotely.
Say we have two developers one from USA and another from India in the same team. But there is almost 12 hours gap between them. How will managers deal with such situations.

Thanks

P.S Keep up the amazing work 🙌

That's where an organizational commitment to asynchronous work, where we don't need as many meetings and we're able to work on separate parallel tracks. It's much easier said than done, and we still need to make time for some face-to-face, but generally it means folks work on different tracks and communicate by text.
