Many of you here on DEV have come to know and love two of our original podcasts: DevDiscuss and DevNews. Each week, you've tuned in for new episodes, left helpful and encouraging feedback, asked questions of our hosts and guests, and explored burning software development questions and top tech headlines alongside other community members.
Given your support of DevDiscuss and DevNews, we wanted to let you know that we've made the difficult decision to put the production of both of these shows on a hiatus for the time being.
The talented @levisharpe has been producing DevDiscuss and DevNews since 2020 โ over the past two years, we have accomplished much of what we set out to do with both of these shows.
For DevDiscuss, the primary goal was to host nuanced conversations around some of the most important topics and questions we face as software developers. Topics like Why Tech's Deadnaming Problem Matters, How to Develop for Neurodiversity and Universal Design, Online Abuse and the Future of Anti-Harassment Tooling, and so many more. Hosts included @ben, @jess, and various Forem team members as well as special guests.
With DevNews, our goal has always been to dive beneath the surface of the latest tech headlines that have particular significance for software developers like you. Each week, @saronyitbarek and @joshpuetz explored stories like the Activision Blizzard Discrimination and Harassment Suit, Timnit Gebru's Firing, and the censoring of China's Open Source Coders.
We know how much many of you enjoyed DevDiscuss and DevNews and we know how much care, craft, and time Levi put into producing them. We're so proud of the stories we told and covered but we made this hiatus decision in order to focus our team's efforts on fewer things for the time being.
With all of this said, so much of the content in both of these shows is evergreen and we plan to continue pointing folks towards specific episodes whenever it's helpful. The episode archives will be available here on DEV and your favorite podcast platforms for replaying whenever you like.

We hope to pick these shows back up in the future if possible, but in the meantime, encourage you to listen, review, and subscribe to the CodeNewbie Podcast where Levi is still lending his incomparable production skills, enabling @saronyitbarek to host a show dedicated to tell stories that both help and inspire early-career developers and coders of all levels.
