Oh hi there! This has been a long time coming, and I'm so happy to be on here. I'm thiiiiis close to graduating from Flatiron and starting the next chapter of continued learning and job hunting. Looking forward to contributing my newbie thoughts here and reading what others have to say!
Congrats on graduating Flatiron! What was your experience like there?
Hi Aaron! Thanks so much, and thanks for asking! It was a whirlwind - went by so quickly, learned way more than I thought possible, and now I have a solid foundation of Ruby, JavaScript and quite a few frameworks. There will ALWAYS be more to learn, but Flatiron really set me up for success. If you have more q's, always happy to chat further - let me know!
For sure! Thinking about something like that in the future. I will message you.
Actually I cannot chat you on here - not sure why. Anyways was wondering what got you interested in Flatiron and how you made it happen.
I was wondering! I thought, wow I had no idea we could dm here :) I just followed you on Twitter, so once we're following each other, we can dm there! So happy to share more about Flatiron and hear what you're up to!

Hi here, I'm Mohamed I'm new here I like the developer job, but i know almost nothing about it, actually I'm beginning with html and css. Please someone can help me and advise. Thanks ☺️
My advice: don’t do it, run away!
No seriously, go for it and take it step by step.
My first advice based on 25 years in software development: technology is cool, but before adopting a technology or writing a piece of software, first think of what your customer needs. We technology driven software developers tend to over complicate things by our addiction to ‘new stuff’.
Thanks:)
We are in the same boat. I think you might be better than me. I am just learning on my own and never went to school for this. Please let me have the few ideas that you have and so I can learn too.
Hi, how are u?
U can start with HTML and CSS like me, it is a good way to start.I will give a link of a website, you can start learn there HTML and CSS

Hi here, I'm Mohamed I'm new here I like the developer job, but i know almost nothing about it, actually I'm beginning with html and css. Please someone can help me and advise. Thanks ☺️
Hi Mohamed! Welcome to DEV :)
Starting with html and css is a great way to get started - just start making things that you like! You can find a whole bunch of tutorials online you can follow, but I would also give yourself time to just play around and explore what you can do.
Once you feel a little bit confident with basic html and css, you can start looking at javascript, which allows your websites to become more interactive.
If you want to try out some online code "playgrounds" you can check out codepen.io or codesandbox.io - which both have some great templates and a neat online environment for playing around.
Good luck!
Thanks very much
Please, do you want to give me some advice on how to progress and be good in HTML and CSS?
My best advice is to find some project that you're passionate about and try to make it happen! Pretty soon you'll want to do something but won't know how, so google for that and find that answer. Then keep going until you hit another roadblock, and google for that answer :)
It can be super frustrating while you're doing it - but eventually you'll have to start googling less and less, and then you can move on to more advanced challenges!
So the best advice I have is: know that it's going to be hard, but keep building little interesting projects anyway :)
Thanks u again :). And can I ask u when need advices sometimes?
I am a CS student. And a beginner actually. I am working on Web Development and Deep Learning projects.
I am here because I don't have anyone to help me or guide me through out the learning path. I hope this community will help How can I ask a question ?
I was self taught as well, and came to data science from hard work at mechanical engineering job.
Keep practicing!!!

Howdy everyone, I'm pretty new to coding! I work full-time in the IT field, but I have dreams of developing some really cool software. I'm focusing on web development first, because it seems the easiest way to deliver small useful little applications.
I post a lot of my progress on my twitter, but eventually I hope to write some cool articles on here!
The web is such a fantastic place to easily deploy thing that you can share with others.
Hello, world!! Finally arrived after so much studying in Bootcamp and years of training for software engineering from working in a real project for tech companies. After so many thoughts, I have decided to built my own blog for giving free courses and posting articles for potential future software engineers. I have a solid foundation of Python, JavaScript, Django, Angular, Docker, MySQL, PostgreSQL. I am now delving into Blockchain and AWS. Looking forward to contributing my thoughts here.
ps: I was a refugee from Somalia so anything is possible.
aay!! Welcome my men. Also Somali here. Not yet a software engineer, but an aspiring one. Anyway, nice to see someone from an underrepresented community here. 😁
btw, sorry for the warm welcome

Hello girls powers and guys, my name is Adriano, I want talk about dev, now I' m deep learning Android and Java, but I worked with VB, Oracle and SqlServer, and I wish to practice my english, and learn about new technologies.
Hi everyone! Long time lurker here but hoping to contribute more. Props to everyone and the hard working dev staff. Just wanted to say that if you're self-taught or followed a non-traditional path into software, you are just as competent and awesome as the "tech gurus" of the world. It's your curiosity and motivation that defines you as a true engineer, not your degree (Nikola Tesla anyone?).
Excited to learn from all of you and share the stuff I'm picking up along the way!
Hey, hello! My name is Jaime and I'm a freelance developer, currently using Elixir / Phoenix to build web spiders to automate checking accessibility and markup correctness in large sites.

Like everyone here I've enjoyed reading all the wonderful things people have been sharing. I'm finally getting around to doing the same. I've been in the development game for quite a number of years. I'll post a mix of programming and devopsy stuff. I really hope I can help some folks out even if it's just a little bit.
Prosit! 🍻

Currently, I’m working on software for petfood factories, mobile cranes and process analysis. In parallel l’m making my training offeeings more broadly available and I started publishing some spin off articles from the training materials.
Open for remote jobs at all times - certainly as long as the lock down in Italy lasts.

I just found out about this website here and it looks amazing, I really like the boldness and the contrast.

During COVID time, I have built 3 webpages (2 dashboards and 1 newsletter) and I am working on the NovelCOVID Open-Source API which now has served more than 2,000,000,000 requests sending more than 10TB of data.
Let's have a great time!
