In the first two parts of this series we looked at the sliding yoke 375-2303072 — the outer half of URAL's disc-type constant-velocity joint. Now the other half: the joint knuckle 375-2303074-Б (catalogued as "Universal joint"). This 3.74 kg forging is the piece that receives the joint disc and completes the torque path to the steered wheel on pre-2003 URAL 6x6 trucks.
Where it sits in the joint
The URAL disc-type CV joint is a three-piece system:
- Outer yoke (375-2303072) — the half-axle fork
- Joint disc (375-2303075) — the middle element
- Joint knuckle (375-2303074-Б, this part) — the disc 375-2303075 fits into the knuckle slot, connecting the whole assembly to the outer half-axle fork
Torque flows yoke → disc → knuckle → wheel, all while the wheel steers. Every contact face in that chain is a wear surface, and the knuckle's slot is no exception: once it wears, the joint develops play and the familiar knocking at full lock begins.

Which trucks does it fit?
The pre-2003 URAL 6x6 family with the disc-type knuckle joint:
- Ural-375 — front axle drawing, position 13, quantity 4
- Ural-4320 (incl. the 1981 catalogue front axle)
- Ural-5557 / 55571 — 2010 catalogue drawings, position 43, quantity 4
- Ural-4420 — 6x6 tractor unit
Note the quantity: 4 per vehicle — the drawings list this knuckle at every joint position on both sides. When you plan a fleet overhaul of front knuckle joints, count four.
Buying smart: the joint wears as a system
The yoke, disc and knuckle share the same contact loads. Ordering only the noisiest piece usually buys you a few months; the classic overhaul approach is:
- Jack up the front axle and check play at each joint position.
- Order knuckles (375-2303074-Б), yokes (375-2303072) and discs (375-2303075) together for the positions that show wear.
- Confirm the truck is pre-2003 — later axles use a different joint design.
