URAL Joint Knuckle 375-2303074: Base Number Fitment and the -Б Variant Explained

This is the third part of our URAL disc-type CV joint mini-series. After the sliding yoke (375-2303072 and its -Б variant), we come to the joint knuckle — listed, like the yoke, under two numbers: 375-2303074 and 375-2303074-Б. This guide covers the base number: what it does, which trucks take it, and how to decide between the suffixes.

What this part does

The knuckle 375-2303074 is the front-axle joint knuckle of URAL trucks — an element of the disc-type constant-velocity joint in the steering knuckle. The joint disc 375-2303075 fits into the knuckle slot, connecting the assembly to the outer half-axle fork. Torque flows through yoke → disc → knuckle to the steered, driven wheel.

The knuckle's slot is a wear surface: once it develops play, the joint knocks at full steering lock — the classic symptom on high-mileage pre-2003 URAL 6x6 trucks.

Which trucks does it fit?

Three pre-2003 URAL 6x6 models:

  • Ural-375 — the classic petrol V8 military truck
  • Ural-4320 — the diesel 6x6 successor
  • Ural-5557 — 6x6 chassis for special bodies

Later (post-2003) axles use a different steering-knuckle joint design — always confirm the truck's year first.

375-2303074 vs 375-2303074-Б: which suffix?

The Cyrillic -Б marks a design variant of the same knuckle:

  • 375-2303074 (this part) — the base drawing number, catalogued for the three models above.
  • 375-2303074-Б — the variant, which additionally appears on Ural-4320-31, Ural-4420 and Ural-55571 drawings (including the 2010 catalogue at position 43, quantity 4 per vehicle).

Same role, same ~3.74 kg, same joint family — suppliers generally treat them as interchangeable, but parts books are strict about suffixes:

  1. Match the exact number — with or without -Б — against your vehicle's parts book.
  2. If your truck is a 4320-31, 4420 or 55571, check the -Б variant specifically.
  3. If the old part and the parts book disagree, send the number plus a photo and your truck model to the supplier before ordering.

Buying smart: the joint wears as a system

The yoke, disc and knuckle share the same contact loads. The classic overhaul approach:

  1. Jack up the front axle and check play at each joint position.
  2. Order knuckles (375-2303074), yokes (375-2303072) and discs (375-2303075) together for the worn positions.
  3. Count 4 knuckles per vehicle when planning fleet orders.
