Here are some ideas, badges for:

  • The one who made feature requests to DEV.to/forem GH repo
  • The best contrbutors on a specific badge (let' say opendata, or other thing that impacts wellbeing and commuity around the world)
  • For the one who used DEV.to to innovate... around DEV.to itself by using its API ... in toer words for people who use DEV.to as an innovation engine
  • For Followers milestones : 100, 1K, 2K, 5K,10K,...,
  • Followers scores : for the ones who gained : 1, 10, 100, 500 1K in a single month
  • AI related content

I'll keep thinking about what kind of new badges we could think about

I don't know about a follower badge, A cool thing about DEV is follower count is not on the profile. So you're not comparing follower count to others. But maybe a Milestone of published articles over some minimum limit
Star Wars day badge was fun, how bout other geek holidays? Pi Day? Hobbit Day (Sept 22)? For an article related to the theme.

I'd like to see a badge for those folks that report vulnerabilities. Thinking about all those folks listed at the bottom of the Security page here.

Hi @chantal . I think you may just not have noticed where they show up. It looks like you have the 1, 2, and 4 week community wellness badges. You should see them on your profile page.

@chantal You should have gotten a notification as you earned those badges. Clicked the bell and scroll back.
Also many of the badges are from posting content. I lurked for a long time before I was comfortable enough to post content, The community was real welcoming when I finally did post.

I do not have a big idea.
But I think having a badge for doing something tangible would be awesome. Not for passive things like having followers. That is so 1980's.
Maybe badges for solving problems of sorts. For providing sponsorship to the site and or users. For growth and development. For positive contributions.

Maybe yo'll can make code themed competitions. and give badges for the best solutions. For various languages and or various frameworks. Or what sponsors are willing to offer.
Best web pages, best web apps etc,
best games, best tiny games for juniors etc. maybe give badges and or prizes and or merch.
