Writing my first Web Component!
(Even if it was a simple one π)
I have 2 wins this week!
Super pumped.
Nothing quite like that feeling when your first PR is accepted to a project! :D
For sure! It was also nice to finally contribute so now maybe I'll feel more confident looking for more!
I made my first GraphQL API! It's small right now, and I pulled what's left of my hair out trying to break apart the types and schema, but I'm proud of it. I've been dying to try it out, and it's very interesting.

Two minor wins ;)
Wow, that's not minor wins at all. Congratulation!
Thanks!! :)
I wrote a folksy/bluesy tune this past week! Hoping to record it soon. π€ /ππΈ
This week, I was hired to be a Django Developer Intern for IdeaMkr π
I shipped my second feature in Django. From testing to shipping, it took drastically less time than my first feature.
I got a diagnosis I've been fighting for for years! ππ»
Wow. As someone who spent 5 years waiting to be told that my pain was due to a strange sounding disorder (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), I can totally empathize with how amazing it is to finally have a name for the enemy. Thereβs a real power in knowing what it is youβre facing. Congrats.
Hereβs my journey story if youβre interested. Iβd love to read yours.
TOS was one of the things I got ruled out! It feels amazing to get answers. Maybe Iβll write about it sometime!
Turns out an Email Automation I had set up has brought an additional 300 users to our site over the last 2 months. It's just a simple "New Products from Shoolu" that uses an RSS feed to track when new products get added. Mailchimp then pulls in that feed and if there are new products since the last email, send out a new email.
Uses Python and the BigCommerce API to generate the feed.
I gave an inspirational talk at the National ACT-W conference for #womenintech called βGrowing Up With A #momintechβ! It was an amazing experience! Here are the slides.

Went to the Irish Fitness Industry Awards last weekend with my wife where our fitness studio was nominated for Best Boutique Gym. We didn't win but had a great night and met some lovely people. Plus who doesn't like to get dressed up like James Bond every once in a while?
I gave a talk to motivate CS students in a remote college in South India and during the talk I asked them to write an idea for their first project and something amazing happened.

Also this is my first time talking to such a huge crowd.
Learned the live-version of Mayer's "Neon" on guitar. While it seemed just too out of reach just a few weeks ago, breaking it down and practising smartly did pay off. Will premiere it on thursday's company-bbq.
Finished up a big refactor/rewrite of the frontend of my project DropConfig from all react to mostly stimulus and turbolinks. The savings in js and CSS bundle size has been amazing.
From something over 500Kb compressed, for just the initial bundle, to under 100Kb compressed, for almost the entire bundle.
I made my first business card after a career change, even though I am still a student.
At a meetup, another guy was asking my email address, but there was no paper. He took another person's business card and let me write down my own email address in someone else's business card.
It was super awkward and I decided to make one.
Wrote my first Azure Function aside from some experimentation.
Instead of a Controller with two timers, there are now two Azure Function with a timed trigger.
Coming next will be an Eventtrigger allowing me to react on events from Azure and Intune, that were hidden before.
The first part of my final thesis got approved with a 9.3 out of 10 score. My theme was genetic algorithm in games.
Wow, 9.3 is awesome! Plus, "genetic algorithm in games" sounds super cool!
thanks, I was very happy with the grade. to me it meant that the theme was relevant
I knew the answer to an r/learnrust question! I'm much more used to being on the other side of that equation.
w00t.
I struggled with something all week, considered adding dependencies to achieve it, and then yesterday I jumped out of bed when I figured it out.
I managed to ditch jQuery and achieve the goal in about 10 lines of JavaScript instead!! (Happy frustration tears)
Successfully completed the week. Waiting for the next one to come.
Taskss got two stars :p even though I dont it's ready to get my star.
My exams are over and I have holiday till 8th July so alot of free time to code :)
I recoded a small API wrapper I made a few months ago, it's a lot cleaner and better now.
i fixed a bug i had been working on for 2 weeks!
Keeping my 1 YouTuve video a week steak going π
Started tutoring one guy till I land my new dev job here in Toronto. He seems to be happy with my coding sessions so far. ππ»
My win was that I learned just enough a11y to complement a previously made user story for a client project and got some recognition from my PM. (a11y from scratch)
I submitted a request to do my first ever Dev talk for a local Meetup.
That's awesome. Good luck, and have fun with that!
