  1. The Hook

Alright folks, David here, your friendly neighborhood Senior Engineer and gatekeeper. Today we're dissecting a DevOps Engineer role at Interop Labs. Remote, blockchain-focused, and promising that sweet DevOps lifestyle. Let's see if it's a diamond or another lump of coal in the endless job mine.

  1. The Stack Analysis

The JD ticks many boxes. We're talking CI/CD pipelines (unspecified tools, which can be good or bad), Terraform for IaC, and the holy trinity of monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK. Containerization is mandatory with Kubernetes and Docker, preferably on AWS. These are all standard, modern tools. The focus on automation and observability is definitely welcome. I like the emphasis on troubleshooting and collaboration, implying the role isn't purely operational and you'll be working with developers, not just for them.

  1. The Money

$120,000 - $180,000. The range is significant, implying they're willing to pay for experience. It's definitely a respectable range for a DevOps role, especially remote. It's important to remember that the final salary is going to be very dependent on your experience and location.

  1. Red Flags / Green Flags
  • Green Flag: Remote! In this day and age, that's a huge plus.
  • Green Flag: Modern Tech Stack. They're not stuck in legacy land.
  • Green Flag: Emphasis on collaboration and ownership.
  • Red Flag: Blockchain ecosystem mentioned, be careful of hype and rug pulls. Do your due diligence on the company and the project.
  • Red Flag: Generic "fast-paced, distributed environment" line. Everyone says that. Probe further during the interview.
  1. The Verdict

This looks like a legitimate, solid DevOps opportunity. The tech stack is modern, the pay is competitive, and the remote aspect is a significant advantage. The blockchain caveat is something to investigate thoroughly. This is a role worth applying for if you meet the requirements and have a genuine interest in DevOps principles and practices. I'd want to dig deeper into the specific blockchain projects they're involved in.
