It's that time of the week again. So wonderful devs, what did you learn this week? It could be programming tips, career advice etc.
Feel free to comment with what you learnt and/or reference your TIL post to give it some more exposure.

I learned how to create a Flutter barcode SDK plugin this week. I've published the plugin to pub.dev and implemented a simple Android app for scanning barcodes.
Nice π
I learned that if you feel like you have something to tell or show to the world - just do it instead of finding more and more excuses!
A winner's mentality! ππ»
Yeah!
Hey, I learned that just going through some good content every morning makes you feel so fortunate. You feel exhilarated while performing any task of the day. β€

This year, with my new job, I was able to afford a virtual art class and I'm currently learning about the skeleton and human anatomy! :3
it's not really dev related but for a while now I've felt like half my brain is heavier than the other and returning to drawing is a way to level that out! π
Nice!
This week i spent my time customizing my vscode to look like a pro
Use your most valuable time on valuable things π
This week I started getting my JS and CSS basics strong. I learned about rendering engine, prototypal inheritance. I'm listening to various podcast related to web development and basics.
That's awesome! π₯
I learned Dev has a pretty solid API which I can use for integration with eleventy :)
For folks interested in the DEV API, check out our API documentation.
Also, @coffeecraftcode and I did a stream on the DEV Twitch Stream this week with @jlengstorf for anyone interested.
We talked about Jamstack, serverless, and had some fun pairing on a project using the DEV API and Netlifyβs serverless functions. Check it out and if you arenβt already, give us a follow at twitch.tv/thepracticaldev!
I found an alternative for postman and shared with our community

Cool stuff. You can link it right here if you want. Just use the link liquid tag, e.g.
{% link link_to_your_post %}

That I donβt have to hate my job. Now that I have work life balance I am learning to adjust to it. Oh and reflection I even wrote a post about it.
I'm increasingly learning that DEV is unfortunately mostly poor quality content these days. More and more clickbait headings, listicle content, and thinly veiled attempts to drive content to other sites. It's a great shame
Sounds like a bitter week. How would you solve this issue? Any ideas?
I agree. I have been on this platform for 3+ years now and I usually see:
"Top 10 VSCode extensions you must try", "100+ mega resources for devs" trending and showing up on their newsletters often.
Yes, other articles do get the limelight they deserve but the contrast is stark as compared to the above types of articles which are nothing but just a collection of links.
I would request @ben , @nickytonline , and other team members of @devteam to kindly address this situation.
The problem was stated by Ben himself in this article:
Improving the way DEV elevates the good stuff

But I'm unsure how many users are using this moderation feature.
Maybe DEV needs a maintained system to elevate original, quality content up (MORE) rather than promoting resources type articles(WE NEED LESS OF THESE ARTICLES I GUESS).
A good Google search is sufficient to find resources, but there needs to be a good article on DEV that explains a topic further.
If I may ask, what type of content would you like to see? (So that I can have an idea of how to style my articles) And are you willing to create that type of content?
