Hi Everyone. New to this community, but not to development. I'm what you would call an "old timer". I've got over 40+ years in software dev, tech, and IT. I'm currently a Sr. Developer Advocate at ServiceNow where I love what I do and the people I work with. I love building custom applications that showcase the art of the possible on our platform and integrations to third party services. But the best part is the people! Conferences and meetups are my jam!
Part of what lead me here as a content creator was my hobby of podcasting which started in 2004. I'm one of the first 50 podcasters ever and currently have three podcasts in production (one for work and two for fun.) I'm the co-author of Podcasting For Dummies. My podcasting hobby turned into a pet project at ServiceNow in 2013 which is now the most successful webinar in the company.
I'm a bit of a Unix geek since 1986, enjoy the occasional pet project involving Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, and other "maker" style projects.
I come from a family of nine kids. I'm married to my college sweetheart for 35 years. I'm the father of two beautiful and very smart daughters who are now grown and have terrific husbands of their own. I love traveling, Star Trek, and getting together with friends.
So awesome to have you with us, Chuck!
My name is Michael and I'm a Community Manager here at DEV. It's great to meet you!
There are so many fun things here in your intro — "one of the first 50 podcasters ever" certainly caught my eye, haha! — and I bet you have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with us.
Really appreciate joining up and thanks for the taking the time to introduce yourself in our welcome thread. I look forward to seeing you around DEV and hope to run into you at a conference one day.
Welcome welcome!
Hello! So great to have you here! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Chuck, that is an awesome experience in this industry.
And the best part of it as you mentioned:
🔑I think that is the
master key

Welcome to the DEV community! 😀
Welcome to DEV!
Hello DEV Community! 👋
I'm Dawid, excited to join this group of passionate developers! My focus is on TypeScript and Next.js web development but I'm also really interested in UX design, psychology and data analysis.
I recently founded Ream - a start up SaaS product that aims to help people enhance their productivity and wellbeing through psychology, data analysis and Ai. I believe in the power of technology to improve lives and creating solutions that truly help humanity, so I'm super excited to be starting this mission driven journey!
I will be regularly posting about web dev, productivity, software engineering and entrepreneurship. I invite you to come along with me on this journey if you are interested in any of these topics or the development of Ream.
Looking forward to exchanging ideas, learning, and contributing to this community. Let's connect and make a difference together!
Happy coding! 📈
Hey Dawid! Great to have ya in the community.
My name is Michael and I'm a Community Manager here.
Web development with TS and Next.js eh? You'll fit right in with our community! 🙌
Ream sounds pretty dang cool! The combo of enhancing productivity and well-being is super interesting and sounds like a good challenge to take on. On that note, you can create a free organization account for Ream if you wanna from your settings and post articles to update folks on the org. Here's an org info & FAQ page that'll explain some of the benefits to ya... and of course, I'm happy to answer questions if ya have any!
Anywho, I hope you dig being part of DEV and I look forward to seeing more of your writing and learning about Ream!
Hello Dawid! Welcome to the community. We are looking forward to your posts!
Welcome, t1XnB0.
Embarking on a journey in software development is akin to setting out on a grand adventure. It's not just about the mechanics of coding; it's about understanding the landscape, embracing the challenges, and finding purpose in the process.
Finding one's "why" in the realm of software development is like discovering the North Star—it provides direction and purpose to the journey ahead.
Welcome to the fascinating world of software development! It's not just about writing code; it's about crafting solutions, solving puzzles, and making a tangible impact.
Ask Yourself Why: Why software development? Is it the thrill of building something from scratch, the joy of seeing your code come to life, or the desire to make a positive impact on the world? Identify your "why" and let it be your guiding star.
All the best!
~ Sachin
Hello
This is great advice and really appreciate your guidance!
Welcome to the community. Glad to have you here.
Hello! Welcome to the DEV community! I hope you will like it here!
Hello! ✋✋✋✋
Hi i am new
i use Scratch,Python and Github.
Much welcome to the community :)
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the dev.to-community!
I'm Martin, and I worked as a Senior Front End Architect and Engineering Manager at one of the world's largest digital agencies, where I led Front End Teams for international projects. After 15 years, I quit my job. Now I travel the world as a professional scuba diver, work as a freelance Front End Tech Lead and technical Recruiter for international clients. Besides that, I write about technology.
My latest book about Modern Full Stack development will be published in the beginning of next year by No Stach Press. It's an easy, hands-on introduction to creating web applications with Next.js, MongoDB and Mongoose (there's currently a 25% Discount!). You can read more about how to become a published author in my upcoming article about writing books.
I am mentoring fellow developers on another platform as well as on dev.to. I am currently publishing the "LevelUp: Elevate your Career Today" series where I give Career and Interview advice based on my experience as Engineering Manager and Technical Recruiter. (It's bascially free mentoring, don't tell my paying mentees about that :D)
If I have enough time, I write more in-depth articles, for example how to create multi-language pages with next export, which is on GitHub:next-export-i18n and npmjs: next-export-i18n
I recommend following the general tags webdev, vscode , career and productivity and javascript, react, CSS. Head over to your Dashboard and adjust the tag weight to personalize your home feed.
Here's a list of articles to start your journey as a successful developer and a great writer:
If you are looking for your next job, I highly recommend buying the Book De-Coding the Technical Interview Process by Emma Bostian. It is hands down the best preparation for every technical interview.
If you're interested in my articles, follow me on dev.to/martinkr or twitter.com/_martinkr.
If you have questions or want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me on dev.to/martinkr.
And remember to start posting today!
Cheers!
Hello Martin
I am confident that we will gain immensely from your wide knowledge and expertise.

👋 Hi, I’m @The-Best-Codes
I love coding in web languages and some simple API languages like Node.js. I also do some Micropython, Bash, C++, and other unrelated languages. I do some stuff with Arduinos, too (particularly UNOs). I am Best_codes pretty much everywhere.
I have accounts on dev.to, Stack Overflow, GitHub, and a lot of other places.
I do web development (some WordPress, but primarily hand coding) and software development (mostly using Electron). I also half moderate for the makeblock forum (I am Best_codes on there).
I have developed a couple extensions for my favorite browser, (and the best browser there is!) Opera.
You can contact me through my email, best-codes@proton.me, which is my trash email (don’t ever share your real one).
I am working on a home and weather monitor called WeatherWorks.
I am learning Python and also how to 3D design.
I like developing extensions for mBlock (it is easy now that I have more experience), and programming simple projects with it.
Code to help others

Just started sharing my experiences on dev.to, so if you like topics such as software design and architecture, distributed systems etc... just stay in touch :)
Heyo! Awesome to hear that you've started sharing your experiences with us here.
I checked out your most recent post on Supervised Machine Learning and it looked super well-researched and written. Nicely done! 🙌
wow, thanks for the feedback, Michael! I'm planning to build a next one following the same line for feature extraction, stay tuned!
Hello! Welcome to the DEV community. I hope you will like it here!
Thanks, Anita!
Hello! Welcome to the DEV community! I hope that you have an awesome time here 😀
What’s good DEV community, my name is Angel. I just recently started my coding career. Matter of fact first day of class will be tomorrow 12/11/23. I’m complete newbie and I’m getting into coding to simply get myself in a position to work remote to be home more often for my three kids. My wife passed away 9/24/23 and loosing her has made it more necessary for me to find a way to get my kids to school and other activities without needing to rely to much on family members. Loosing my wife has been tragic but I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I will be given once I learn this new skill.
