Hi

As every year, this year too you can check out the Advent Planet of Len Jaffe listing all the tech-related Advent calendars with daily articles. This year there is also The 2024 PDL Advent Calendar that has not been included yet.

The German Perl/Raku Workshop 2025 was announced.

I've restarted the organization of live online events. For now I've scheduled a Rust-related presentation, and a Perl-related one: GitLab pipelines and CI for Perl developers. I am going to schedule a few more soon-ish. If you'd like to get notified of new events you can register to the Code Mavens Meetup group. See you at one of those events.

Enjoy your week!

Discussion

Long un-patched security bugs on CPAN

As I understand, if there is a security issue it is in CPAN.pm and the command line CPAN client and not the CPAN service as one might thing from the title. Also everyone can have running access to a Windows machine, e.g. by using GitHub Actions. However, I agree with the sentiment behind the rhetorical question: "Why are there so many patches/pull-requests waiting to be applied in so many open source projects?" I know the answer (or some answers) I just don't know what is the solution.

Use in GIMP still possible?

Can we still use Perl in GIMP? I personally never used any programming language in GIMP. I hardly know how to use GIMP.
