WWDC22 brings new WebKit features in Safari 16 Beta and other news on web technologies. Vivaldi users now have Mail, Feed reader, and Calendar tools in their browser. The updates of the week feature Jasmine 4.2, Puppeteer 14.3, and more. And I'm adding a new section of tools, assets, and other useful resources.
Safari 16 Beta was presented at the WWDC22 event last week. This update will include a lot of features developers have been asking for: container queries, subgrid, a flexbox inspector, Web Inspector Extensions, and more.
We finally have the release notes for the 102 update. Check them out if you need more info.
Vivaldi users now have a new set of tools integrated into their browser. This includes a Mail client, a Feed reader, and a Calendar.
Safari 16 Beta was not the only web technology presented at WWDC22. Here is a list of all presentations on this topic that the event team put together.
- egjs-flicking 4.9.0 - a reliable, flexible and extendable carousel.
- Emoji Mart v5.1.0 - a customizable emoji picker HTML component for the web
- Hugo v0.100.0 - Very fast Static Site Generator written in Go
- is-online v10.0.0 - Check if the internet connection is up
- KaTeX v0.16.0 - fast math typesetting for the web
- Puppeteer v14.3.0 - headless Chrome Node.js API
I'm adding today a new section to this newsletter - the Front End Resource collection. Over time I've bookmarked a large number of tools, assets, and other helpful things. I'm now sharing them with you and I hope you will find many useful things there.
I am still working on ways to present this collection in a better and more useful way. Doing it on a static site generator, without a database, raises some specific challenges. I hope you will join me as I learn how to overcome them.
