Donington Park Farmhouse weddings: how the venue works, where the best photos happen, the wet-weather plan, and what to budget. From a Derbyshire wedding photographer.

Donington Park Farmhouse is the rural East Midlands venue that has quietly become one of the most-booked in the region. B&B on site, two ceremony spaces, and a setting that feels a hundred miles from anywhere. Here is the practical guide for a 2026 wedding, written by a photographer who has shot there enough times to know the day in detail.

Why couples book Donington Park Farmhouse

Three reasons: (1) the rural setting without the 30-minute drive from civilisation, (2) the on-site B&B that lets the couple stay the night before and the morning after, (3) the relaxed, family-feel of the venue. It is not the most luxurious, the most photogenic, or the most prestigious. It is one of the warmest.

The two ceremony spaces

The Main Barn seats up to 120 and has a glass-wall end that floods the room with light. The Granary is smaller (up to 60) and more intimate, with a flagstone floor and a wood-burning stove. Pick Main Barn for any wedding over 60 guests or any May-September ceremony; pick Granary for any winter wedding or any small wedding where intimacy matters more than scale.

The day at Donington

Most Donington weddings follow the same flow: morning prep in the B&B (couple and closest family stay the night before), ceremony at midday or 2pm, drinks on the south lawn, wedding breakfast inside, speeches, evening reception with a band or DJ, first dance, end by 11pm. Plan 6-8 hours of photography; the light on the south lawn between 3 and 5pm is the day's highlight.

Where the best photos happen

The south lawn (south-facing, golden in late afternoon), the orchard behind the farmhouse (beautiful in May-June with the apple blossom), the lane between the B&B and the Main Barn (candid morning shots), and the dovecote (the small white tower, which is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path portrait location).

What to budget for Donington Park Farmhouse

2026 prices: £8,000–£12,000 for a 70-guest weekday wedding, £12,000–£16,000 for a 70-guest Saturday wedding. In-house catering is in the £85–£110 per head range. On-site B&B rooms are £120–£160 per night. The full all-in for a 70-guest Saturday wedding is typically £20,000–£25,000.
