Planning a Bakewell wedding? A 2026 guide to the town, the venues, the photo locations, and what to budget. From a Derbyshire wedding photographer.

Bakewell is the most-photographed market town in the Peak District, the home of the Bakewell Pudding, and one of the most-popular wedding destinations in the East Midlands. Here is the 2026 guide: the venues, the photo locations, what to budget, and what couples often forget.

Why Bakewell

Bakewell is the gateway to the Peak District's most-photographed corners. The town itself has a 200m stone bridge, a 12th-century church, and a market square that has been photographed by every landscape photographer in the country. It is 30 minutes from Chatsworth, 30 minutes from Hathersage, and 20 minutes from any of the eastern Peak District gritstone edges.

The Maynard, Grindleford (15 minutes) — a recently refurbished Peak District hotel. The Devonshire Arms, Beeley (10 minutes) — a 200-year-old inn on the Chatsworth Estate. The most-photographed photo locations

Bakewell bridge (the most-photographed spot in the town, at sunrise). The Chatsworth gardens (national trust, 10 minutes). The Monsal Trail (an old railway line, 10 minutes from Bakewell, photogenic year-round). The eastern Peak District gritstone edges (Curbar, Baslow, Stanage, 15-20 minutes).

Where to stay

Bakewell has 10+ B&Bs within walking distance of the town centre. The most-photographed options for couples are the Rutland Arms Hotel (the oldest in town, photographed in every Bakewell-wedding gallery ever), the Houndkirk B&B (a few miles out, more peaceful), and the Holly Lodge (modern, 4-star).
